I know. But HeeJae's bodyguard is HeeJae's bodyguard. He is there to protect only her. Maybe he hung back to make sure no harm came to her? At any rate he couldn't engage unless ordered by Heejae.

I agree, you would have thought he would have stepped in out of common sense, but he is there to protect HeeJae and no one else, so maybe he stood back to protect her?

Great actors, good plot and script, direction and production artfully and skillfully done - I love it! First of all, from seeing much discussion about it, there is no love triangle. The only love story is between SeJong and Seolhyun. She has pretty much told DoWhan's character to take a hike from the beginning. He gave it a shot, she shot him down. But she does care for him, but his situation takes him to the dark side which she rejects. Also, Seolhyun's acting is good, I find nothing wrong it. The character she plays is strong and decisive, a survivor. And these are ancient times. Women had to watch their decorum and speech in a male oriented society. Emotional outbursts weren't done. She plays a person who is passionate but has to control her feelings to survive. I find her portrayal correctly done. Also for those wishing more historical detail - go watch 6 Flying Dragons. This story is about the experiences of the 4 main characters - Seo Whi, SunHo, heeJae and to a lesser extent prince Bang Won - and the impact these violent time had on their lives. The historical/political story is background to their stories.
