Yeah man I don't understand the timeline at all i thought the fire in consort mansion was prior to the fire in cp place. I thought that was emperor's scheme to get wy back to capital and due to this event, crown prince died and after that c princess set up a fire to save qimin.

But why would the emperor forge a fake letter if it was the crown princess who burned consort place? Did he know in advance or something that the crown princess will burn consort residence or smth? I don't quite understand.

I thought Crown Princess only started fire in her own residence to save Qi Min. I don't think she started the fire in Consort Shu's place. Can you elaborate?

sorry but for your explanation in number 1, didn't the emperor himself start the fire, as explained by current emperor's mother? I think emperor started fire because he knew that Consort Shu had an affair with WY, it was a trap to lure WY back to capital (the letter that was supposedly written with Consort's handwriting was actually written by Emperor) to trap WY to come back to capital??

is this all true? so sad...

Also i just realized, the official 38th episode gets a scene cut during the bed scene. I wonder why though..and if other scenes have also been affected too..

I'm kinda confused, apparently some people say that Changyu's grandpa was also a traitor in the novel (Meng something) because he was also a general and didn't send provisions to the frontline in the Battle of Jinzhou 17 years ago? Some people also said Changyu used her Meng surname in the Battle of Lucheng? Is this true? And was his grandpa really a traitor in the novel? Also why didn't this show up in the actual drama and only Wei Qilin is mentioned? I only seem to notice his grandfather being mentioned like once, as a hero, in the final Bao'er coronation scene or something?? Why did Changyu preferred to use the surname Meng instead of Wei (according to some novel readers!?)

Also in the easter eggs, some people say that the Changyu womb scene (where XZ was already like around 5-6 years) and their parents were great friends, was it in an alternate universe/lifetime or was it in THIS lifetime? Cause for me, both would make sense since XZ's father should've also been friends with Wei Qilin.

i think she also thought wei yan was behind it or something. She didn't know who was the culprit or maybe wei yan already told her/some of her spy told her that the late emperor was targeting her husband which is none other than the CP Chengde. Either way there's no way her safety can be guaranteed given the death of her husband.

Yeah i feel like he's such a great and well-written character. He's very loyal to the dynasty. Too bad the real culprit got a lighter punishment.

yeah im a bit confused here too but i think he did say it's to destroy every evidence, maybe he doesn't want his affair with shu consort to be known too due to that secret letter. Also he did abdicate and tried to assist wei xuan by finding and killing XZ when he know he's searching for massacre evidence.

I think it's bcs they have no evidence that Li plays double sided while wei yan has alr been renowned as the one who forced an abdication and kill WQ (changyu father) and had an affair with late emperor's woman. Actually i think they were a couple once but late emperor took shu as a consort

sorry but based on the spoiler from sites, in eps 40 prison scene, aftr QM's death, she did say she came from a very distant place. FCY then replied if it's too far then we don't need to come back there or smth..

that happened

wei yan, tutor li, xie linshan (xz dad), and grand tutor, are friends with crown prince chengde. CP chengde wasn't favored by late emperor and was sent to battlefields mainly Jinzhou. wei yan and xie linshan weren't happy with this and wei yan mistakenly said that they should rebel and basically force the late emperor to abdicate and give throne to CP chengde. Turns out, Tutor Li was playing double-sided and reported this incident to the late emperor. Therefore, the late emperor was really mad at CP chengde and his faction and wanted to destroy them. He colluded with Lord Changxin (his cousin), asking him not to send reinforcements against Beijue if it's requested. CP Chengde and Xie Linshan went to the battlefields in Jinzhou 17 years ago against Beijue. (i think late emperor sent 16th prince first and then when he lost, late emperor asked CP Chengde to save him). However they seem to be in the losing side (100k army was starved). No provisions and reinforcements arrived. Wei Yan tried to send reinforcements and provisions but mid way, he received a letter from Shu Consort of the late emperor, which is also the lover of Wei Yan, asking him to come back to the capital immediately. This letter was actually made by the late emperor to lead wei yan back to capital. Turns out the late emperor also knew that wei yan had an affair with his shu consort. Due to this incident, wei yan asked his most trusted subordinate/friend (Wei Qilin) to send the tiger tally to changxin lord to ask for reinforcement. Just for context, back then changxin lord hasn't rebelled. The tiger tally was rejected by changxin lord. He claimed it was fake even though it was real. Therefore, wei qilin was named a traitor. Meanwhile, Wei yan went to save Shu Consort who was being burned alive by late emperor and his guards. He was found by the imperial guards in action and he ultimately failed to saved both Shu and his best friend XL and CP Chengde in the end. That is why he hated tutor Li over the years, because he knew that Grand tutor won't be the culprit. The real culprit who told emperor was tutor Li. Due to lack of reinforcements and provisions, both CP chengde and Xie Linshan died. Meanwhile, Wei Qilin was named a traitor due to not sending reinforcements and provisions. Later on, XZ's mom (XL's wife) discovered the letter made by Emperor to blackmail Wei Yan (using Shu Consort writing style) and he thought Wei Yan was the traitor. To leave Xie Zheng a way out, she made the ultimate sacrifice by doing suicide, hoping Xie Zheng won't be killed by Wei Yan, his own uncle. Wei Yan, really mad at this incident, forced the Evil Late Emperor to abdicate the throne, therefore the current dumb emperor was in charge. Crown Princess knew that once CP Chengde died, she will be next. She made a risky decision when Changxin's wife made a visit to her place, and traded their both sons, diabolically killing the real Sui Yuanhuai and Qi Min survived with Changxin's wife (became Sui Yuanhuai in disguise). Crown Princess and S. Yuanhuai both died in the fierce fire that night. Wei Yan said that fate plays a trick on him, Qi Min left a trail of evidence to force Xie Zheng to investigate the 17 years ago incident that took place in Jinzhou. Wei Yan, with his cold-blooded heart, said that there is no going back, and he killed all his subordinates who was involved, including Wei Qilin who in the end also suicided. However, fate plays a trick on him, when Wei Xuan try to killed XZ army, XZ was saved by female lead and also daughter of Wei Qilin and Meng Lihua, Fan Changyu. Thus the story begins.

I don't really know why but i used to really love the series Pursuit of Jade. I love it very very much in the first half of the series and even up to around episode 27-28 but after watching the next episodes i like it less. Even after watching to eps 40, i still feel like the passion is lost in like episode 30+, the love isn't as detailed and it feels a bit rushed too, fight scenes are minimal and XZ feels like a newbie who just stirs up politics. Even yuanqing vs yuanhai got a little screentime
