I wish I could watch it again for the very first time ;3
First of all, I genuinely wasn't expecting myself to fall so deeply in love with a drama with no major dark plot, just pure, sweet, heartwarming goodness. People often think low-angst shows might get boring, right? But when I tell you how insanely hooked I was from the very first episode.
No drama has ever made me feel this nostalgic or miss my school life as much as this one. The squad's friendship was everything. The way they genuinely cared for each other, showed up for one another, and navigated life together was so wholesome. I felt so genuinely sad when it ended because watching their journey really hits you with how fast time flies. I literally wish I could wipe my memory clean just to experience all those warm feelings for the first time all over again.
And can we talk about the soundtrack? The music in this drama is so elite and nostalgic that I literally set it as my ringtone c:
The leads were peak perfection. Zhang Lu Rang was an absolute, undisputed green flag, and Su Zai Zai was so delightfully quirky, childish, and unbothered. Their dynamic was so cute, but what I loved most was that the drama refused to invent stupid, forced conflicts for the sake of artificial drama. There were no random breakups or characters suddenly acting like idiots just to drag out the plot.
Are there misunderstandings? Of course because life isnt all sunshine and rainbows and little bumps in the road are just part and parcel of real life. But WIFTY managed to sprinkle them in so organically that it felt completely realistic, which is probably why it hit me so hard emotionally.
One of its absolute greatest strengths is how much trust the characters have in each other. They don't blindly believe outside noise. Even when that annoying girl tried to make a move on Lu Rang, he didn't fall for unnecessary drama, he believed in Zai Zai, played along with her, and backed her up 100% of the time. As they grew up together, they supported each other's dreams in every single way possible.
And I can't forget Jiang Jia and Gu Ran! I loved them so much! Their dynamic was adorable and I was genuinely so happy for them. My only wish is that we got even more screen time of them as a couple!
If you want a heartwarming, organic, zero-ragebait show that will make you smile, cry happy tears, and completely steal your heart, this is it. 1000/10, absolute perfection!
