i like this take. stories usually portray a happy ending as the main leads ending up together, but how do we know if it truly is happy or not? we only see a little bit of their life after they got together, not the entire rest of their lives. they could've broken up later idk anything is possible.

i don't remember if drama fans had any arguments back then but i do know that novel fans did. apparently, the novel author intended for FL to end up with ying yuan (1ML). but fans kept complaining they shouldn't because 1ML treated her so poorly so author made FL end up with yu mo (2ML) instead. of course the drama changed it up though.
