Can't wait for season 2
This drama reminded me of the "Liar game" manga - same game for survival style and the MC tries to save everyone, even though it doesn't always go that way. Episode 3 was quite touching and overall there were some twists along the story that kept it entertaining and gave the sensation - I have to know how this will end.I loved everything about this drama, except the wigs - I really do hope that next season they'll find a better hairstylist. I have also wondered how much did they pay to have the streets of Tokyo and the subway emptied in broad daylight.

Started well, but ended as a trainwreck
I started watching this series because I found the plot interesting and the reviews were also recommending it. I found the first few episodes a bit slow, and leaving the inconsistencies aside, I think the story developed pretty well up until episode 12, but from there things started to go downhill. Everything seemed to be on fast forward post episode 12, the scenes had no flow in between, the story started to make no sense, things weren't explained anymore, they just happened, the cringe started to kick in and ended up with a last episode that was supposed to patch things up somehow, but personally it was like watching a bad comedy. There were also inconsistencies in the last 10 minutes of the last episode - his sentence versus the last scene doesn't make sense. And the last scene - I understood you wanted to show it's winter time, but in what normal house it's so cold that condensed air comes through your mouth when you speak?My second problem with this series was the main female lead. I don't know how she played in other dramas, but here she was grasping for air at least once per minute when she was on the screen. The constant panic and hyperventilation she showed throughout the series were very annoying. Plus, her character was one of the dumbest female leads I've seen in kdramas. It seemed like a little kid who saw a candy and would pursue it no matter what, without looking right or left, just to have it. She never learned from mistakes, always had to be saved and managed to say so many "Oppa"s per minute/phrase, that I have seriously considered muting the sound each time she and male lead were interacting. And *spoiler alert* there was a scene where the roof fell on her boss, he jumped to save her, got injured and she walked by to check if a total stranger is alive or not, without any "thanks" or "are you alright/injured?". That left me speechless - what kind of human being does that? You want to save others so much that you discard everyone else who's close to you? Makes no sense to me.
Leaving aside the many things that didn't make sense and we never got a valid story for, the male lead, 2nd male and 2nd female characters were ok and did the job as best as they could. The additional 2 grim reapers had their funny moments too and at least made the show bearable after episode 12.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this drama to anyone, unless you have time to spare.

Loved the purple hues
I don't understand the hate for this drama tbh. For me it's a solid 9/10, considering the story and the acting.> The story was amazing - up until ep 34 (if you're looking for a happy ending for all, stop here). I feel that everything after could have not happen.
> The acting was great, all actors could convey their inteded role and emotions. From all the Bai Lu dramas I've watched, I feel she did her best in this drama and I really loved her in this role. The ML had a stiff face, especially in the more intimate moments, he looked like he was forced to be there. But overall good performance from him as well. 2nd FL was really cute, hope to see her as lead actress in the future.
> The settings&CGI - they imagined awesome locations. I don't know if they created a whole new set for the Bright Moon Palace, but I loved the color pallete. Also It was fun to recognise some sets from others dramas I've seen.
> The costumes - fit the bill. Very colorful and daring I would say, with great patterns. Some of the best I've seen in such dramas.
> The music - mediocre at best. Only one extract from one song I could constantly hear.
> The ending - Altough it's supposed to be happy, for me it felt as bit forced (like facepalm cringe).

Wholeheartedly enjoyed this series
It's a very funny, light series. The FL is smart, funny and witty. The ML starts as a grumpy tiger, but ends as a purring cat. The costumes could have been better, the music isn't remarkable, but the chemistry of the leads makes up for it. There should be a "love triangle" in the story, but the 2nd ML feels more like furniture in the overall picture, than a relationship threat. Binged it over the weekend. Made me laugh, made me cry, made me be disappointed in a way...
This was a rollercoaster, both in terms of emotions, but also plot twits/arcs or whatever you want to call it. It started out strong, carried out strong, but the last 10 episodes or so gave me the impression they didn't know exactly the direction they wanted to go with the script and it went all over the place. Normally you'd have 1 big enemy and you'd build momentum for it throughout the series. But here the "enemy" changed so many times that you'd actually wonder who are they up against? This also makes the way they handle things weaker (no revenge, no remorse, no build up character for the villain, just plow through to the ending). I was kind of disappointed in the last 10 or so episodes, while the ending left a bitter taste and made me wonder why I spend so much time to get there. However, I loved the music, acting, costumes, CGI, even the story up to one point. 8/10Was this review helpful to you?
