*Last thing I want to add here. I'v seen something about a controversy surrounding the ages of the characters was a big issue for a lot of people.........I just don't understand why this is. They are both consenting legal adults so there should never be an issue. She is in her twenties and he in his thirties, so what? There are people in relationships like this all the time and a lot of them are healthy! Who is anyone to judge them? No one. Please respect couples who have an age gap. Of course there are ages where it's wrong but I don't have to explain those ones since it's obvious but please, the age gap in this show is perfectly healthy, normal and right. Tired of people making such a big deal over this. Also worth it to point out that the male lead NEVER liked her when she was a teenager.
Thanks for reading this far guys! <3 Remember that your job is valid! You don't have to get a job that looks amazing to society because ALL jobs are amazing <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Okay guys, here are my thoughts on this series! I'll post multiple comments because it's quite long hahaha. I…
3. The CHEMISTRY between the male lead and female lead was INSANE. I am a little disheartened to see others thought they should stay as friends or they had a friendship dynamic...guys...not all relationships are over the top romantic/sexual. Relationships come in many forms and these two started off as friends and when the male lead started to fall for her, he was already comfortable being around her and had nothing to hide. This is so important and is an example of a real life healthy relationship. A relationship where you are partners AND bestfriends is a good relationship. I screeched every time they looked at each other's eyes, lol. 4. Another thing I liked about this drama was that the main girl was tough...but she still accepted help in the end from the male lead's mother. When you are tough in nature it's hard to accept help and you feel guilty for it...but she learnt that it's okay to accept help from someone who cares about you. Also it's great how she knew how to defend herself too. 5. People also have to realize that this drama is more of a comedy/satire/melodrama type thing so it's going to have some gimmicks and over the top scenes. It reminded me more of an over the top cartoon at times which isn't a bad thing given that this comedy. A mix of seriousness and comedy vibes was great in my personal opinion :)
A few cons: 1. Cultural appropriation with the guy with dreads made me uncomfortable and came across as making fun of that culture which is not right. I skipped his storyline entirely because of it. 2. The parents didn't resolve their disagreements with the bestfriend in the past/Mum was abusive to her husband. 3. The ex girlfriend got way too much screen time and she was really irritating.
Okay guys, here are my thoughts on this series! I'll post multiple comments because it's quite long hahaha. I finished this about 2 weeks ago and I was surprised to come here and see a lower rating than what I had expected. Guys please don't judge whether or not to watch a drama based on the low rating because then remember it's always based on personal preference. Make sure to read this AFTER you have seen it. Why I gave it a 9 was because of the following reasons: 1. The message centered around the concept that someone can have a more 'lower class' job but still be happy and proud. Too many dramas and society in general tend to push people to have high paying jobs and careers that are stereotypically are seen as 'successful' like business, law and medicine. No one should be made to feel like crap just because they work at a convenience store. a job is a job. As a person who also works at a store, I felt seen and this is what I LOVED about this drama. The main character returned to his high paying job towards the end of the drama but realized he loved his job at the convenience store and so he made the decision to stay there despite earning less. This is so important in our society today <3 2. I loved how the main guy was so caring, kind and respectful. He wasn't afraid to be himself around the female lead and also respected who she was as a person too. We need more male leads like him.
Guys, help :( I'm up to ep 13 but for some reason I can't access the series on GMMTV's official YouTube channel. The episodes aren't showing up at all. I really want to finish the last 3 eps to see if it ends happily! >-< Does anyone else have this problem and why is this occuring?
I didn't like the third episode so I had originally dropped it after that. As a Yoo Ah In fan, I felt cheated that he died so early on when he was marketed as the main character by being placed in the middle of the main poster. The show also made me feel really uncomfortable and just disturbed when the extremists were killing those innocent people and no one was protecting the ones receiving the decree. But saying that...I kind of changed my mind on this show when I gave it another chance and watched the last episode. The whole concept of the baby being sentenced to hell was heartbreaking because a baby is innocent which shows that the whole new truth's ideals are false. People were coming to some sense that the new truth is wrong. The show could have been written better and there were still many issues I had with it but I'm hoping season 2 will focus more on the supernatural aspect and the real reason why these people are being killed by these beings. Hopefully season 2 will be better than the first season. It's either going to be the devil sending them and not God at all, OR it has nothing to do with religion. What do you guys think?
This drama is so so so pure, simple, innocent and awkward just as ones first love can be. I just love how they weren't sure of their feelings at first. It's also refreshing that they didn't really know how to act in a relationship. The more you spend time with someone, the more your feelings can grow into something more. It also shows you that ones sexuality can be fluid and one may not realize they like that person until later <3
His nose looks larger and different in his latest drama or am I imagining things? I could hardly even recognize him. Not that there's anything wrong with it of course <3
Yeah I loved Yitong and Yanlin's story, especially how they had realistic issues of how their differences of what they wanted in life affected their relationship. And Yanlin got married?! I didn't know :0 Congrats to him! <3 That's why I liked Neo and Chaoyue the best too. The editing didn't pair them up as all lovely dovey and they just seemed like close friends that cared for eachother. Like...Jasper and Qin Lan...the garfield plush?? and the whole thing about them 'fake dating' and running back to each other to embrace at the end? So scripted and forced. Idk why they made them like that either. I kinda feel like they were told to do that for viewership.
Out of all of them I enjoyed Jasper and Qin Lan's story the best just because I thought it flowed better in terms of pacing, character building and overall it had a unique story idea. The ending had me in tears :( My fav 'couple' though was Chao Yue and Neo as they didn't seem as forced as the others.
Make a season 2 and bring back the cop...I just need it because my heart hurts. Wouldn't it be so cool if S1 was him trying to find/save his brother and then S2 is him taking down his brother. The brother would be the leader now right? Since the old man is dead.
Does anyone know if we are getting a season 2? I feel like we were supposed to get another season but I'm guessing didn't happen :( I personally really enjoyed this as weird as it was. I think those that gave it a low rating didn't understand that we weren't meant to be given the answers. We were meant to analyse everything for ourselves and thats what I love about it. There were a lot of hidden meanings but this whole drama to me was about not fitting in with the norm, e.g. people who see ghosts, people with disabilities, kids being bullied at school, sexuality and more. I love Eun Young sm. She is extremely socially awkward and doesn't have many friends but she is still so badass with her sword. In Pyo was honestly so sweet. Would have been nice for their relationship develop past a friendship in S2.
It was cute and all the actors are great. Will definitely check out their dramas. The only thing was the entire thing was highly staged and edited. Idk why they try to make it seem lovely dovey between the actors when it's not.
For me, this drama was about how society judges what is right there in front of us without figuring out the whole picture. Mirae was first shunned because she was deemed ugly by others and then when she does get plastic surgery, she was on the way to being completely shunned again. The issue here is that too much emphasis is being put on people's outside appearance being 'pretty' and not how people are inside. Mirae had a pretty heart but others refused to see it due to her looks. Whereas Sua had an ugly heart but others were blinded by her 'pretty' outward appearance. Let me clarify that you were SUPPOSED to find the character of Sua annoying and unlikable. That was the whole point. We as viewers could see she was being fake and manipulative. We could see it but the characters couldn't. But do you know what? The hard truth is that people like her exist in real life and a lot of the time we can't pick them and even NEVER find out who they really are or what they are going through. Even then, if we do figure out the facade, we immediately judge them without trying to understand. Everyone has their own side of the story and no one is just one-dimensional.
