Question regarding FL Lead, episode 13 and perhaps earlier.
I'm curious if they will ever show the FL becoming curious/suspicious about her husband's story of his background. He is obviously skilled with weapons. He is educated enough to read and write. Not only does he have amazing calligraphy skills, but he can also understand books / poetry, etc. Will she ever become suspicious that he isn't just an "armed guard who has traveled?" I feel at this point, there should be some questions on her part about who this person might be.
One thing shows have a hard time portraying is accents. A highly educated person from a city, will sound different from an uneducated, country person... This was shown in 100 Days My Prince, where the ML recognized that the FL sometimes switched to a more educated dialect and sound.
I really love that the FL fights with a quarterstaff and small blades, which women can actually use much easier than trying to pull war bows or wield large swords. I find it brings some believability to her skills.
I also like that the ML is shown to have wounds that hurt, and that he doesn't instantly recover the next day. Showing that it is painful and would limit you for a good while is refreshing.
It's so disappointing to see more female characters from "noble" families who are written as spiteful and vengeful bullies. These sects are supposed to be filled with people cultivating their best selves, but the lord's daughter is just a schoolyard mean girl.... so many shows have this.
Look, I love a mean and scary female character (The princess in The Double), but girls / women who are spoilt brats who order people tortured and beaten for no reason... why???
It’s interesting how female characters especially supporting ones like 2FL have to be basically perfect to be…
This is my old person's opinion, but men and women are valued for different things. Women want attractive men who have strength and power (sometimes this is called wanting a bad guy, but that's not all it is). Men want attractive women who are also positive, happy, and agreeable - that's why disagreeable women are called "b*tches" while disagreeable men can be seen as attractive.
I just don't understand the shipping of sml and fl. I only have 2nd lead syndrome or shipping when I don't feel…
I think of the FL and the SML as "friends from a small town" type of relationship. I feel it so strongly in this show. I grew up where you knew everyone. I don't "ship" them, but I enjoy their interactions.
Here to comment that the sets and outdoor scenery are beautiful. The gazebo is covered in roses and old rose vines. The A-frame meeting place is filled with potted flowers. All the colors in the show are bright and beautiful.
I've really enjoyed the series but didn't enjoy these two episodes as much. Perhaps the "bad things" don't seem to be all that bad. A pre-modern country has sick orphans! Oh my! The "mad" king makes girls dance until their feet bleed - oh no!
I did enjoy the line, "I won't be a king of rebels." - excellent! If they depose your brother, they can depose you. This highlights how a true prince may actually feel about overturning the monarchy. I enjoyed that emotion and sentiment a lot.
Telling others about the body swap... Eh, I may have to watch again. Not sure if this was cringy or will make the show better.
Enjoyable show! But I wonder how the story will extend through so many more episodes...to me the smart move would be to have her "die" as a widow, have the Prince introduce her as a titled lady, and marry her. That could be one more show.
So I'm curious to see what happens to make it to 16. I guess they will have to figure out how to get rid of the Chief Secretary. Maybe they will make a team of 3 to take down the baddy.
The prince is sweet, but I'm more interested in the interactions with Hong Mim Ki. He uses his face to act instead of being so stoney which happens often. To me, HMK and NJH get along as old rivals, like they grew up in a small town together.
I dislike male/female body swaps but I guess needed so NJH could show some backbone and get out of the house.
