this show was basically a bunch of random plotlines messily compiled together but still managed to be so likable to me... I found myself endeared and amused by the silliness of the story rather than the usual frustration that this sort of writing causes. so hats off to the cast! this was such a fun and cute group of characters that they brought to life, even when the drama itself felt unfinished and wandered a lot! looking forward to their future works

Title The Love Equations Spoiler
Been wanting to comment since the show finished airing but I decided to rewatch to solidify my thoughts!

It seems like people are taking problem with the breakup but I actually thought the reasoning was more believable than splitups in most other dramas of this genre. The scene where ML talks about how he would hate to see her love turn to resentment made sense with what we saw of his family life. Obviously, it's irritating to see someone shut out a loved one (especially one as sweet as the FL) but writing-wise, I think it was well executed. Exploring a character's vulnerability and trauma was definitely a departure from the writer's previous works though. The FL delivered on both the highs and lows during the breakup episodes (Fully admit that I cried during both of her monologues). I think the actress delivered her confusing and conflicting emotions impressively considering her lack of experience! But full disclosure that I don't often watch "non-youth tag" melodramas so maybe I'm being a bit generous...

I was also glad to see that the mother's recovery and her re-built relationships were included in the final episodes. The downfalls of the drama were the logistics of medical work being tampered with and the rushed "make up" at the end. Although the FL did show she had been hurt (and how that pain stuck with her even after she forgave him), I wish she had been given a scene to voice her frustrations and pain more clearly because that would've fit the outspokenness of her character. The misunderstanding between them that he was scared of burdening her because of his parents' relationship was never really resolved and that bothered me.

Anyhow, just my passing two cents re: those episodes. I think this is my favourite of the three series (only by a hair) even though I didn't like the second couple and the friendship was more interesting than the romance for the first episodes. This writer is so fun but I wish the endings were more satisfying and 'in-tune' with the characters. Youth writers, happy endings but not at the expense of the rest of the story, please...
