Title Burn the House Down Spoiler
I thought she was treated psychologically, like some people are for severe depression. But I think they used that…
After finishing the whole thing, I think that it's just the case that the show wanted to be able to take characters out of the picture. So Mom was in the care facility, and Dad slept at the hospital he ran. And when the story needed those pieces, they could be pulled out for whatever reason, and potentially be put back if they weren't needed anymore.

she was being treated at that time for the amnesia itself.
I still don't understand why amnesia requires thirteen years of hospital bed rest.

Would someone please explain why the mom is in a hospital bed? I was under the impression that she just had amnesia, not that she was injured or physically incapacitated.

I saw the first episode of The Company You Keep. Huuge disappointment. Has none of the arch humor of MFC. The…
I haven't watched the third episode of TCYK yet, but it was awful from the get go. I found out this morning that it was based on this show, and so I've started My Fellow Citizens. I'm already liking it better.

Alchemy of Souls isn't a hybrid historical drama any more than Game of Thrones is a hybrid historical drama. In the US, our default magical fiction setting is Euro-based, so we end up with castles, wizard robes, magic wands, and other Ren Faire stylings. Korea isn't European, so when they create a fantasy setting, they're not going to default to our castles and clothing. They're going to default to their own.

I have read a lot of these comments that say the FL is a good detective, so they don't understand her attitude in the show. But it is a repeated plot point that she is not. She is persistent, but when she fixates on a target, it prevents her from being able to solve crimes because she can't see the forest for the trees. She is sloppy in her follow-up, and certainly not circumspect. You also have to figure that she hasn't really done a very good job if she's been assigned to the bumbling squad. But she does wear cool black clothes, and she can fight.

I guess it's because of the Start Up Business mentality. I recall a drama in which each employee had an english…
I think there was another, but it didn't play a huge part in the plot. Symbolically, it's like King Arthur's Round Table of knights... Everyone is given an equal seat at the table

Lotta truth here.

I finished Eve earlier this week, and just felt this empty nothing when it was over. I turned this on, not actually expecting much, and while it was not as ambitious, it was much more satisfying.

OMG. YES! We are introduced to the FL because she loses her case in court. And every single time she has to go to court, she's always losing until some Deus Ex Machina plot device pretty much nullifies any work she needs to do. [But she's got spirit!!] And then the ML's protectiveness takes over and she's just a bystander who... Holds the gun for the crazy side-villain's game (and doesn't think to actually use it, dispose of it, or whatever), and announces in court that their witness who will convince the world of the main villain's guilt is her mom. Which isn't evidence, or even relevant to the case at all. She's just a glass doll - looks pretty, but constantly being protected from breaking.
