Personally I didn't find it artsy to this level. It was more or less the old korean drama formula about a plot that happens in an art uni. The story also has some differences. The japanese one so far is really well executed and the actors are really good at portraying the character's feelings. The korean one is different but I've seen people commenting that they liked it.
I'm under the impression that the real JL is quite younger than XFF.
