If you're looking for a drama to watch as they sub this - "The Rise of Phoenixes" was one I watched recently. I loved it. Thought it was well done and I enjoyed the characters.
Okay it's kind of creepy that he made her look like his dead wife. I mean her husband was obsessed with her because she resembled his mom - now the dr makes her look like his dead wife and will fall in love with her. I guess we'll have to see.

I've been thinking about what said in regards to his character since yesterday - man it totally upped the ante with the drama. Made me rethink all of the first part. Him seeming so innocent in nature. I wonder if he had something to do with his brother who got killed on their trip.
I'm liking Li Chen less and less. I totally get palace politics and all the plotting that seems to go with it - but he just adapts all too well with playing the game of deception. I still can't reconcile how he fell in love with Xiao Feng in the beginning and now we see that he had a love interest who he grew up with.
Not sure so far. I don't mind slow initial episodes for story building and this is pretty slow - but I'm not sure I like the character they are making Ji Hyun Woo to be. "Tea - toast ... the doting husband - understanding surgeon. None of that is bad - but they are making him to seem more like a puppy than the future hero .. where's Jang Hyuk . He needed this role.
And I'm sad I love Ryu Soo Young why couldn't he be the good guy. Not sure if I'll finish it - might let it go for a few weeks.
Talk about betrayal. Sure I get Li Chen and Gu Jian desire for revenge given all things considered. But - and I mean c'mon. You both screwed over the girl emotionally in such a way that how could ever expect her to understand why. And never still want her to love you.
I'm sad cause well - I loved Gu Jian but this drama needs to be about revenge period. I know I love romance too .. but it's going to be a hard pill to swallow. Where's the 3rd male lead ... let's have a new guy win the girls heart -that'd be funny. We'll see - definitely entertaining though.
I almost dropped this early on - so glad I didn't. Admittedly I'm torn now- even though I love Chen Yu (Vin Zhang) ... Dong Fang Shi (Austin Lin) is totally a cutie and really am enjoying the banter between him and Hua BuQi (Ariel Lin).
No spoilers - but hands down this was the best historical drama I've watched. Everyone was great .. you fell in love with the good guys and hated the bad ones. They all did perfect jobs in the rolls they had. So well done. I'm still wiping away my " I can't believe it's over tears".
It's most likely just me - but I'm starting to find the story line lacking. There's no real depth in the characters . There's a lack of continuity in the plot. I really loved The Story of Yanxi Palace and the way they built on each episode - leaving you sweating while you waited for the next. We'll see .. the jury's out for now.

I totally agree with that. When you think back to her youth she was constantly having to give up all that she had or wanted just to appease her sisters and their mothers. And you're right for women " sweet affection" wasn't really a luxury for most - and ML grew up seeing affection used as a means to manipulate others. I really think as the show moves forward they'll both be eventually be on the same page - there's this part of me that can't help but think that in the end the realist in ML will eventually save the day big time. =)
