I actually agree with everything you said since I felt the same way. But when I say 'smart', smart that he didnt attempt to save his friend. Some dramas have those that it drove me nuts on how stupid is the main characters. They only get away with it due to plot armour.

That interview was years ago. And we can clearly see it in his his dramas after Glory of Tang Dynasty (which has pretty impressive kissing scenes). That 'No kissing' clause was in effect for a few years before Forever and Ever. But he no longer have them as he has kissing scenes in both 2021 & 2022. He is allowed to change his mind.
This drama has been awesome so far. All the 4 main characters are complex, as well as the supporting characters. And I love the fact that the scriptwriter seemed to make his research when writing this. All the Psychologist job part of the drama has been believable so far. Then we can see behind the scene on whats been going on the scriptwriter's job; the dilemma, the unhealthy environment of filming and creative writing vs doing what the client wants.
Definitely one of the best written Cdramas this year. Hopefully it keeps being awesome till the last episode.

I really cant believe some of the comments I read about Allen Ren. They way some people wrote it is so dramatic. 'Iron-clad' contract when it could be just a normal contract that have this phrase 'Refuse to do kissing scenes'. Then his wife visit him at work when normal people do this all the time as well. Then insisting how its AI/CGI when he kissed his co-stars. I'm sure the funny interactions off screen are also 'acted' /sarcasm. >.> Ohh the length people go for his kissing scenes lol.
