To be honest, the very last ending was unnecessary. Would have made a better plot if the ending was from where it was before the middle of the last episode.
Wait- In one scene where the priest gave the congresswoman a cross, and then she went to the bathroom and started reacting to the cross and was getting affected by it. That was a sign that she was possessed by Park Il Do.
But then we later find out that she wasn't in fact Park Il Do, she was just a relative of his who was portrayed as a "reincarnation" of him.
Was that a hole in the plot and a story error, or was it there to make the viewers think that she is Park Il Do, as in it was just one of those elaborate fake scenes?
The first thing that I said when I finished this movie was "fuck", I was mind blown. I somewhat feel sympathy for the king, but I also despise him at the same time. I felt like he was selfish to have chosen the one he loved to do that task, I also felt that his love was almost one-sided. Hong Rim must have loved the king, but he had no sexual desires, while on the other hand, the king loved him with all his mind and body. Keep in mind that this was over centuries ago when there were kings who you had to sell your souls to and fight for them till death. This is a very hard task, but I felt like Hong Rim wasn't devoted enough, surely he couldn't control his lust for the queen, but he also had a role ever since he was young to serve the king, and the king only. In the end, I felt a sense of betrayal, not only from Hong Rim but also from the king. I enjoyed this movie and I hope that other people discover this masterpiece.
