This drama reminds me of Side story of fox volant - there's way too many characters in this and somehow the story feels the need to name everyone and give them their own storyline and backstory, it's dumb. The storyline is all over the place with seemingly no end goal. The male lead is simply dumb, this is Cheng Yi's worst performance that I have seen in any drama
I never like to do this because it completely goes against my beliefs and ideas and maybe what Iâm about to…
Iâve read all the replies and the general consensus is that thereâre a lot people on this platform that just wanna drag dramasâ ratings down for various reasons. But my question to the people grading dramas depending on how they enjoyed it is that howâre other viewers meant to differentiate between the best dramas and the mediocre ones if everything is perfect Iâm your eyes? Yes you write reviews based on your viewing experience but those reviews are for the rest of the audience. And those saying they need to raise the ratings of this drama by giving it 10: howâre you any different to the people rating it so low?
I never like to do this because it completely goes against my beliefs and ideas and maybe what Iâm about to talk about isnât gonna change but regardless Iâve to call it out. I beg all these people writing reviews to make them more realistic and not exaggerate then purely based on emotions. Itâs quite evident and clear that this drama (and many others) has glaring flaws but all Iâm seeing on the contrary is people handing out 10s in each and every aspect which just isnât factually correct. So please my humble request to you all is to review dramas after some well structured analysis and proper observations to avoid misguiding information being put out there.
I don't understand. There are serious xianxia like the ones you want to watch, and there are comedy xianxia, playful…
I sort of understand your stance but I have watched Ancient Love Poetry and it was actually my best Xianxia drama that year but regardless, this drama "Last Immortal" doesn't even come close to being worthy of ALPs follow up. You might say that it's a brand of Xianxia that's more about youngsters, comedy and all that but is this really the right genre for that if we're to look back through all the successful dramas? I say no. As for my main critics having watched it longer now and eventually dropping it have always been the production, the voices esp. the echoes are way too audible, the ML looks to me like a support character, the texteures of the objects, the CGI was mediocre as well, so it's just a mediocre production in general. Considering I'm not chinese it's hÂŽdifficult to tell if a voice is dubbed or not but believe me, in this drama I could tell. This Zhao Lusi role was probably one of my most disliked roles in all her dramas. There's so muuch to not like about this drama and I could go on all day. I'm at a point where I read reviews at times before I watch the drama, that's how bad it's gotten with this genre.
Can you elaborate? What donât you like about it? The best xianxia for me is Love & Destiny followed by the Eternal…
I'm not a massive believer of opinions when it comes to dramas because there are always evident facts to base on whether a drama is good or bad HOWEVER I'm not here to slander anyone for their tastes and so on, that's more to do with them and doesn't change the fact that the drama is basically crap. The facts are there to see for everyone and before you come back at me, please do check whether all my criticisms towards this drama are valid and then Iâll entertain a proper discussion.
Now let's not pretend we haven't seen this throughout the years because for every 10 dramas released in a year, there will be some 5-7 overly hyped up proper stinkers. We're just unfortunate enough to have some fans in C-drama that'll follow their favourite actors/actresses which admittedly clouds their judgement at times. I'm a massive Xu Kai fan but that doesnât count for a lot when I've to rationally review his recent dramas which have been just BAD which is even an understatement.
Now regarding this drama The Last Immortal, I've tried to look for at least one thing that redeems this drama from its several failures but I've successiveöy failed. The voice of the FL (like WTF), the voice of the heavenly emperor (for a xianxia drama: Not imposing enough, not majestic. YOU'RE THE EMPEROR OF HEAVEN FFS), the ML (just don't get me started, it was a dreadful cast). I've never been someone who judges or relates roles to faces, it's always been how well you perform your role for me BUT this time THAT ML face isn't giving me any TRUE GOD AURA I can't lie.
The textures, colours, and the makeup (Goodness me!!!) I could go on for an entire day and that's not to say it's only this drama, it's the entire genre at large that's heading gradually in not certainly the wrong direction but surely it's taking a mediocre path compared to the bar the previous predecessors set.
And just to conclude, @Mstique I do agree with the fact that this genre is well suited for more mature characters, not youths running around. I'm sorry there might be a serious genre-actor identity crisis going on here
ZhaoLusi won Most popular OVERSEAS actress and Xukai Won Most Popular OVERSEAS actor....Do you see the vision??…
It's not as simple and getting the best actor and actress and whacking them in the same drama expecting amasterclass. I'd say that's a bit naive thinking. If Xu Kai and Zhao Lusi are to be used in the same drama, it'll have to be some lovestory crap just like Wonderland of Love which they might as well just not bother acting because it'll be such a poor release. Zhao Lusi is best in dramas like Who Rules the World NOT when she's crying all the time
There seems to always be a cult following that will ride and die for any drama regardless. Not me lol
