Still just rumors at this point. Not confirmed yet, right?
Well, it's the latest rumor, so we'll have to wait and see. I do have preferences when it comes to who might play the female lead, but honestly, that's not the priority for me—the most important thing is that Wu Lei confirms a new drama soon.

As for the actresses rumored to be in the running for this role alongside Xian Tiwei, let me first outline the key factors influencing casting decisions, then I’ll go over fan polls and the current rumored names:

Ning Yao’s Traits

A lethal swordmaster with a hidden vulnerability—casting will likely focus on actresses who can handle both physical action (swordplay) and portray emotional restraint convincingly.

---

Key Influencing Factors
Fan Campaigns: Zhao Jinmai and Zhou Ye are leading on Weibo polls, while Yang Chaoyue’s fanbase is actively lobbying the producers.

Production Demands: The role requires several months of martial arts training. Some actresses may decline due to scheduling conflicts.

---

Rumored Contenders for Ning Yao

1. Zhao Jinmai (赵今麦)
Why Rumored? Leaked casting lists from Tencent suggest she’s a candidate thanks to her strong action-drama credentials.

2. Yang Chaoyue (杨超越)
Why Rumored? Industry insiders claim Tencent is considering her for her enormous fanbase, despite criticism of her acting (e.g., The Journey of Chongzi).

3. Liu Haocun (刘浩存)
Why Rumored? Known for her dance background, which may be advantageous for choreographed fight scenes.

4. Wang Churan (王楚然)
Why Rumored? Reported as a backup choice in studio leaks—valued for her elegance, though her lack of action experience may be a concern.

5. An unnamed "top-tier actress"
Why Rumored? Some Weibo sources suggest Tencent might bring in a surprise A-lister (e.g., Dilraba), though budget negotiations are reportedly ongoing.

So, nothing is confirmed yet. As long as Wu Lei is attached, I’m excited—whoever ends up playing Ning Yao just needs to do justice to the role.

Wu Lei - yes! Tian Xiwei - really? Dang but Im disappointed!
Concerning the ML role, and based on the countless rumors, I would say they've officially extended an offer to him. Now, it's entirely up to him whether he accepts it or not; hopefully, he does (and maybe he already did). This is a giant IP, a top-tier male lead costume drama.

Regarding the FL role, I presume you're disappointed because it's not Shen Yue, aren't you? xD Well, I've heard that there are five or six actresses competing for the role of Ning Yao, so let's wait and see.

Yes, it's still a rumor, but I would say, this time isn't just a rumor,
the cake is thrown onto Wu Lei's lap. This is a giant IP, a top-tier male lead costume drama. Whether he accepts it or not, no one knows yet (Hopefully he does or maybe he already did). As for the female lead, the rumor said that currently about 5 or 6 actresses competing for the role of Ning Yao.

Which means he accepted the role offered by Tencent to star in the drama The One! If that's the case, hopefully we will get an official confirmation soon.

There was an unpublished casting announcement looking for a 6-year-old boy to play a young Wu Lei. The drama is reportedly set to begin filming in Hengdian…

Could it be? Has Wu Lei finally picked his next project?

2. Hundred Flowers Awards (百花奖)
Prestige: Audience-voted, but still prestigious (founded in 1962).

3. Huabiao Awards (华表奖)
Prestige: Government-endorsed, focuses on films aligning with national values.

TV Drama Awards
1. Magnolia Awards (白玉兰奖, Shanghai TV Festival)

2. Flying Apsaras Awards (飞天奖)

For anyone asking what he's been up to lately:

About ten days ago, he was at the Beijing International Film Festival for his movie Dongji Island.

And yesterday, he attended the China Huabiao Film Awards for his other movie, The Decisive Moment. There was a heartwarming moment during the event when Jiang Qin Qin said in her speech, "Like with Lei Lei, when we filmed DBTWL, it felt like we instantly clicked and wished we’d met sooner."

She was at the event for her new movie, The One (where she and Zhang Jingyi are the leads).

Wu Lei should be at the top considering the objective criteria!
I am not sure why the drama Guardians of the Ancient Oath was taken into an account when it was literally a school project 😂

Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, Nothing but You, Love Like the Galaxy, Our Times, The Long Ballad, Cross Fire, all of them were successful dramas. And as far as I remember there's no other Chinese actor with 6 successful dramas since 2020 where they play the ML

Hahahahahahahaha, they waste millions to cast top actors and all instead of giving atleast 1% of it to a SCRIPT…
Congrats to Hollywood for replacing writers with ChatGPT and soon actors will be replaced with deepfakes! I can’t wait for Avengers 12: Algorithm of Ultron. 🤖🎬

“Ah yes, the ‘Land of the Brave and Free™’! 😂
Where your government’s idea of ‘freedom’ is:

1. Bankrolling genocide in Gaza ($14.3 billion + vetoing UN ceasefires) while screeching about human rights.
2. Jailing whistleblowers like Assange for exposing war crimes but calling China “oppressive.”
3. Letting corporations buy politicians so you can “freely” choose between two geriatric Zionists every 4 years.
4. Bombing 7 countries since 2001 to “spread democracy” (oil and weapons deals included, freedom not guaranteed).

But please, tell us more about how China’s constitution is a “lie” while your cops murder 1,000+ citizens annually, schools get shot up weekly, and 40% of you can’t afford healthcare. Such brave! Much freedom!

And yes, we’re all so jealous of your “free speech” to simp for apartheid states or get bankrupted for tweeting “wrong” opinions. Meanwhile, China lifted 800 million from poverty while your “freedom” left 40 million in debt-slavery. But sure, keep barking about ‘pets’ while your Congress licks Netanyahu’s boots.

On The Demon Hunter's Romance Apr 12, 2025
It seems 'Love In Pavilion' has been postponed until the end of April so that 'The Demon Hunter Romance' can air first. I've been looking forward to 'Love In Pavilion' for a while, but I can wait a little longer. I miss Song Zu Er, and I'm glad she's back. Also, it's rumored that her other drama, 'The Prisoner of Beauty,' may start airing soon. I guess networks are eager to release these dramas after they were shelved for so long xD
