Theory:
Mu Deok is the reincarnation of the former leader of Jinyowon 200 years ago, the one with Master Seo Gyeong who was blind folded. He is also the missing eldest son of the Jin Family. Jang Wook may also be the reincarnation of Master Seo Gyeong so they are destined to meet again in the current season due to the threat posed to Daeho, since the ice stone is in the hands of the opponents. It is also possible that Mu deok chose naksu's soul to enter his body. Naksu was the key for Uk to learn how to fight and use spells, while Mu Deok was Jang Wook's protector when he was in danger.
(I think the reincarnation thingy would be possible if Master Seo Gyeong and the former leader of Jinyowon were dead)
I think Master Lee also said something to Park Jin to change his mind and let Uk decide about their fight with the crown prince. Master Lee also said that Master Heo has nothing to worry about because Mu Deok will protect him. I feel like he knows something that hasn't been revealed to us yet. Haha

I just notice that the sword Uk is holding in the poster is Naksu's sword, what's your theory about it? Is there something secret/meaning about it? or is it because Uk is already strong enough to open Naksu's sword?

Episode 7 answered one of our questions. My theory was partly correct, that Cho Chung (Naksu's father) became a soul shifter and that pushed him to his death. However, Jin Mu implied that Jang Gang was the one who turn Cho Chung to a soul shifter. If that is really true, why Jang Gang would really go into such lengths when he could've just persuade Cho Chung to hide the original plaque. Jang Gang just wanted to avoid bloodshed and I think Cho Chung also wanted that. And why would Jin Mu kept quiet all this years? We all know that Jin Mu is greedy for power, he could've reported that to Songrim and to the King which would result to Jang Gang's removal from the position and is advantageous to Jin Mu.

I do still believe that it was Jin Mu's doing ang he just wanted to blame it to Jang Gang. Between the two of them, Jin Mu has the most ill intention.

Title Alchemy of Souls Spoiler
"My trust was once broken by a Songrim mage."

Lady Jin implicitly said that she trusted once a Songrim mage to enter Jinyowon, however, that trust was broken. It was speculated in the latest episode that the ice stone was unsealed. I think Lady Jin is referring to Jang Gang and he might be the one who unsealed the ice stone.

The ice stone is a powerful object, all the relics inside Jinyowon is made from that stone, including the soul ejector which is used for the alchemy of souls. Since the era of the Songrim founder, the alchemy of souls was banned for the reason that it cause chaos and destruction. However, after a hundred of years, one mage tried to learn that and it was Jang Gang. In the first episode, we know that Jang Gang mastered the alchemy of souls and we saw him holding a soul ejector. He also instructed Jin Mu to acquire a soul ejector stored in Cheonbugwan when he was asking for his help. Hence, I believe that Jang Gang was the one who unsealed the ice stone to acquire a soul ejector and for him to learn the alchemy of souls. But for what purpose? Why he would like to learn such dangerous spell? Is there something he want to use it for? If Jang Gang was the one who unsealed the ice stone, why would Lady Jin kept quiet all these years considering that it was a very important relic? I believe Lady Jin is also liable and I think she is hiding something. I also believe that Jang Gang was out there finding the ice stone to seal it back since that was the cause of all this tragedy.

I speculate that it was Jang Gang who unsealed the ice stone and Lady Jin isn't aware of it. Due to this, a tragedy might have occurred in Jin's residence, the ice stone was absorbed in Bu Yeon's body accidentally. Jin Mu then have gathered this intel and kidnapped her to acquire the ice stone. That might be also the reason why Lady Jin's husband is still finding Bu Yeon even after many years because they didn't just lost their daughter, but also a dangerous and powerful relic.

The reason I could think as of now why Lady Jin kept quiet after all this years was to protect the Jin Family. If Songrim and the King get a hold of this information, they wouldn't trust them anymore. Most probably their authority over Jinyowon would be removed and their power to reject and dethrone a royal would be also taken from them.

In episode 7, Mudeok/Naksu was able to open Jinyowon. This just proves that she is part of the Jin Family. Some people speculate that Mudeok is the blind mage who perform the rain ritual. If that is the case, then that means she is hundred years old but why Master Lee didn't recognized her? In the episode, we saw the founder of songrim and the blind mage standing side by side which means they are associated to each other. Master Lee is a pupil of the Songrim founder and he should've recognized Mudeok from the start
Base on the past episodes, I still believe that Mudeok is the long lost daughter of Jin Family, Bu Yeon. The relics in Jinyowon even recognized her.
"It is her, the blind girl. It is the ice stone". It could be that the ice stone was sealed inside Bu Yeon which resulted to her blindness and the reason why Mudeok's body was able to live with two souls. But why? Why would they seal a dangerous relic inside a girl? Why would Lady Jin allow that? Perhaps there was a tragedy that happened in the Jin Family and the ice stone was accidentally sealed or absorbed inside an innocent child. Or it could be someone purposely sealed it inside her. If that is the case, Bu Yeon would be really in a dangerous spot considering that it is a powerful object and many mages are interested to hold such power. Perhaps, Bu Yeon's disappearance is due to that reasons.

I think Jin Mu was the one who kidnapped Bu Yeon to acquire the ice stone and that is the reason why he has always a stock of soul ejector. I think it was stored on the mysterious box that is given to the Queen who I think is Jin Mu's accomplice. It was handed to her temporarily to keep it safe, since at that time Park Jin is suspicious of Jin Mu.

It was revealed that the Queen was behind all these tragedies. Perhaps, even before she sat on throne. Jin Mu…
• This is Yeon’s disappearance.
Why is the Jin Family still finding their daughter even after many years? Perhaps they didn't just lost their daughter? What if they also lost something valuable other than Bu Yeon? We have deduced that Mudeok is the long lost daughter of the Jin Family and I think that would really makes sense since she had the ice stone. They are not just finding their daughter alone, but also to retrieve back and keep the ice stone safe. Unfortunately, it wasn't with her anymore.
Or perhaps, the ice stone isn't just one? It was mentioned that Master Seo Gyeong destroyed the ice stone. What if he was not successful and it divides into several pieces/fragments? That might explain why the Mudeok has special ability and why the Queen also has one.
• Mu Deok's disability (blindness).
In episode 7, the relics in Jinyowon recognized Mu Deok. "It's her, the blind girl! It's the ice stone". That would makes sense since the relics are made from the ice stone. I think Mu Deok/Bu Yeon was born with a frail and sickly body, she was blind since birth. Perhaps the Jin Family purposely let the ice stone absorbed inside Mudeok's body (Bu Yeon) to give her a constant energy and to cure her illness and disability. However, a piece was taken from her and she reverts back to being blind again as what we saw in the first episode.

It was revealed that the Queen was behind all these tragedies. Perhaps, even before she sat on throne. Jin Mu is just a substitute to protect her identity. Here are some of my takeaways based on previous episodes that I think is linked to each other.
• Jang Gang having a soul ejector in first episode.
Soul ejector is made from the ashes of ice stone. How he was able to acquire such thing? Have he discovered and unsealed the ice stone? Where is his whereabouts? What's his purpose for leaving Daeho? Is he trying to find the ice stone and seal it back?
• Mysterious Songrim mage who was allowed to enter Jinyowon once.
It was implicitly implied by Lady Jin that she allowed once a Songrim mage to enter Jinyowon, however, her trust was broken by that mage. What is the purpose of that mage to enter Jinyowon? What did the mage do which resulted to Lady Jin's disappointment? Who was that Songrim mage? Is she referring to Jang Gang? Who was trying to retrieve a soul ejector to master the alchemy of souls back then?

Season 2 Random Theories Thread:
Random Theory: Bringing Naksu back to life isn't possible at all because it was said that "the power of soul ejector could bring someone dead to life by summoning back their souls." So it might have a chance that Naksu's body, which they use to burn, could be highly faked. Someone powerful may have used sorcery for appearance.
