I haven't progressed past ep 31 but what you said about the cliff scene is exactly what I'm afraid of. I feel…
Ugh, I legit ugly cried at the father/son/daughter scene. I was already feeling very emotional when Tou revealed to his dad that Xue Zhi was the love of his life. This had been his wish in episode 19/20. I was crying with Tou when he got to the execution place and saw his dad's body being wheeled away. Shang Guan dad's death left the biggest hole in my heart.
I was very relieved when Xue Zhi went back to Tou, in her armor no less, prepared to go into battle with him. Ugh, this girl is so awesome. Although Tou was being Tou again, I'm glad he relented this time and FINALLY let Xue Zhi in. I really enjoyed watching them together even though she was dying and clearly in pain, it was bittersweet. I wish it didn't take her dying like this for Tou to finally seize the day and stay with Xue Zhi. They really threw away precious time when they could have been sweet like this forever.
I feel Tou and Xue Zhi has opposite character development. I like Tou in the beginning, but he gets nonsense as…
I agree. Xue Zhi's character matures a lot towards the end, while Tou's regresses, it's a shame because they appear imbalance as a couple and I feel like Tou had so much potential in the beginning. I know Yukee can do badass character, I've seen her in several similar roles, I do like her in this as both a girl in love and a girl fighting against all odds in Wuxia world, it's just that Yukee doesn't have the ability to carry the emotional weight so some of her more emotional scenes feel flat. I agree that they have good chemistry, even in the BTS they appear to click so well, also they're both visually striking. I want them more in historical drama though, preferably Wuxia because I love Yukee in armor clothing.
I think they made Tou fight less as the drama progress because he has bad injury during filming, so script writer…
That's a shame, I didn't know his injury was serious. I do think that affects his character arc, not that much but noticeable. But I appreciate this scene where he lets Xue Zhi fights on her own because she's really not as weak as everyone makes her out to be.
Halfway through episode 45, I legit feel like a proud mom seeing Xue Zhi's growth and maturity. She's not quite a badass character, but she's a strong and no nonsense lady. Surprised to see Tou willing to stand by and watch her fight her battle. Omg, this is a scene I didn't know I've been waiting for! *Wipe tears
Yeah, a hedgehog and a run-away groom. Sigh!BTW, did you cry in any of the scenes? I know they're supposed to…
I'm a cry baby and I cry at the littlest thing, but even I feel they're trying too hard to wring tears out of me. I did shed tears at some of the scenes but mostly of Tou, Leo has the ability to pierce through my heart with just his red-rimmed eyes. I cried a river at Tou's dad scenes, I think their moments were the most powerful in this whole drama.

I initially thought Xue Zhi and Tou were being too stubborn to resolve the misunderstanding, it wasn't until much later I realized Xue Zhi was feeling low self-esteem and thought Tou didn't love her anymore because he didn't try to explain again after leaving Fairyland Winehouse, Tou on the other hand, either missed his timing or put his foot in his mouth and ruined his chance with her. Either way, this is something that should have been resolved earlier.
I feel sorry for Mu Yuan but I think he did everything he could for his love, he missed his chance with her a long time ago when she brother-zoned him.
I'm still up to episode 43, heh, trying to catch up with everyone else but I don't wanna fast forward, might as well finish it properly since I've gotten this far.

I didn't notice it in the beginning because I enjoyed the dialogues, the banters and flirtatious conversations, but by the end, I did think to myself, "Omg, they're not done talking?"
I don't mind spoilers tbh, they sometimes help me decide to check out a drama, it'd be nice if they warn ahead though instead of dropping them here and there in a big paragraph. Sometimes they just sum up the whole drama in a review that I don't feel the need to watch, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing lol.
Reviews and comments are pretty much the same to me, so I don't see what's the big deal. I only read reviews if I want a more organized and well thought out opinion. Sometimes people reveal way too much in reviews I feel like I don't have to watch it anymore lol.

We've practically been praying for that cliff scene, lol. By the time I got to it, all I could think of was to just get over it. They were bogged down by that one stupid misunderstanding for far too long, I think it lasted 12 episodes. When Xue Zhi found out the truth and went to Tou, he said exactly what I was thinking, "How could a small misunderstanding tears us apart?" EXACTLY! HOW?! I actually enjoyed episode 34 to 37 where they reconciled and were together again.
Episodes 39-40 were excruciating to watch/finish, I think I spent 1.5 hours on episode 39 alone, that's how much of a drag it was. Half of the episode was spent on Lord Lu threatening people into submission, which is a plot I could have cared for if it was developed earlier rather than on its last legs because it felt like an afterthought or filler. And then there was Tou's long-awaited cliff scene, I'm not sure if it's because we've been expecting this since day one, it felt very anticlimactic, flat and quite a let-down. I'm sure this scene was supposed to be a tear-wringer, especially when Xue Zhi arrived just in time to witness it and have a falling out with Mu Yuan for this, but all I could think of was Leo's beautiful face and hair as he fell gracefully down the cliff (why a cliff again, I'll never know, because apparently this is a popular place in historical/costume drama to die but not actually die).
My only favorite recent episode is episode 35 where Tou desperately tried to keep Xue Zhi alive. It's interesting to me that Tou selfishly wanted to keep her alive, even though Xue Zhi was rather accepting of her fate, that he was willing to let her go through the chilling process to slow down her vitals and drink poison to counter the poison in her body. This is the guy who'd rather die before letting her get hurt, now willing to let her suffer the pain just to sustain her life. Even Wu Ming, his most trusted companion questioned him if it was the right thing to do to keep her alive at the expense of her pain? I thought it was an interesting inner conflict for Tou and one where I saw a glimmer of hope on his character. True, it was very selfish of him to decide whether Xue Zhi should keep trying or give up, but it's one of the rarest occasions that I could see/feel him fighting to be with her. I wanted more of this.
