In the first episode, I recognized him from Stage Fighter. I'm actually rewatching to see him dance.
There's only one season of Stage Fighter. It aired Sep 24, 2024 - Nov 26, 2024. He is one of the contemporary dancers in it. Here is an overview of the show: https://kisskh.at/771927-stage-fighter
Time is precious, and I'd rather focus on other shows. Netflix is choking me with her screentime, so I'll let Singles Inferno fall from my watchlist this week and then some. When I see more Min Gee, Hee Sun, Go Eun, and Jaejin, I'll take it back up again. I wanna see connections building between participants. Not someone collecting Pokémons. There could be amazing interactions, but they seem to all be on Netflix's editing floor. Snip, snip.
IMO Mina is not playing Singles Inferno. She's playing Mafia. Maybe she's the character that's there to stir the pot and girl is a creating a frickin' whirlpool. But Min Gee is my girl! Go get your mans! I love Jaejin. He is such a stable presence which is my breathing space. In this season, where there's so much mayhem, Jaejin shines as a beacon of peace and calm.
I enjoyed the performances of the following in their respective songs. Main Dish : Kang Min, Zi Hao, Ching Yu Lucky Macho: Donggyu, Xin Long, Yumeki Chains : Leo, Jia Hao Sugar High : Ha Neum, Masato, Yun Seo
There are a few trainees, such as Li Yu, Junmin, Woojin, Ha Neum, Leo, and Sangwon, who could have tried a different concept to stretch themselves. This season, I feel Mnet has boxed in the trainees so they feel one-dimensional. It's like they're selling a packaged boy group this time around.
That survival announcement was wild. When votes sway that much, it symptomatic of a huge disconnect among the show's audience, which could be problematic for a debuting group. Just in this forum alone, it is evident that the global and online voters' preferences differ from the studio audience. Mnet really needs to go back to the drawing board for their next survival show. The evil editing is a sorry a$$ strategy to get clicks, ratings, and viewer engagement but it undermines the show's credibility. So if this Boys II Planet bombs, I guess Mnet will just repackage the show, give it a new name, but its still the same sh|tshow. Better to shift the intent towards cultivating and nurturing a real fanbase that would carry the boys as soon as they are out of the gate. What Mnet is creating is solo stans and promoting unhealthy fan culture.
From the current surviving trainees, below are my picks: Yumeki Zang Jia Hao He Xin Long Lee Leo Jang Han Neum Zhou An Xin Lee Sang Won
Then for the last spot I am torn between Park Dong Gyu and Li Zi Hao. Why? I want an all-rounder but cannot give up wanting a strong rapper able to write his verses. I see Dong Gyu as someone who can provide leadership and stability to the group. As for Li Zi Hao, he can be the happy pill for the group and then provide the savagery when needed.
TBH I was so disappointed that a few rappers are still in the show. Most true rappers are out of the show or on the edge of being eliminated. Was there before the East Coast-West Coast beef, so Mnet stop feeding me rappers you like. If they're not eating, then I am not with it.
I don't understand what even is scary about him..😮💨
There is an intensity to features that is not particularly run-of-the-mill for "idols". Also he seems to be extroverted and projects his personality outwardly. In some interactions with other trainees I sense he is more western. Although his remarks are in Korean, the way he phrases them are very western thus I can see where he can be easily misunderstood. Just my take.
Watched ep 9 several times to check myself. There is an abundant WTF sus moments when the scores were revealed for almost every group. I mean, are the studio voters really watching the same show because the numbers are just effin DUH. The history of Mnet's survival shows is not beyond recall.
I mean Yumeki? Yes he dances beyond what is called for an idol but this is performance for a DANCE POSITION. Then there's Jiahao. The man slayed imo.
Leo's score? I can't. He delivered Queencard worthy performance. Could be the audience have a problem with him breaking the guitar. SK audience had an issue with an idol breaking drumsticks on stage at one point. It is a vocal performance and thus the score should be based on his vocals.
Woojin? FR, why? He deserves better.
Rose Bloom vs. Breathe!!! Stupefied and my jaw dropped to the floor.
HOT getting the lowest score among rap groups when it delivered a lot of flow variations which the trainees delivered to the audience on a silver platter. The performance was engaging and fun too.
As for dance, I see the song's popularity influencing the number of voters gravitating towards one and not the other regardless of choreography and dance performance. This is the sad reality of this category. I love many of the trainees in this category, but objectively, this is Tambourine's. Love the variety, the footwork, and how it was put together. XXL is the close second.
My lineup that I know I will not get. (sigh) Anxin, Leo, Taejo, Xin Long, Yumeki, Jia Hao, Sangwon, Yoonmin
Looking forward to this feisty FL staying spirited. I hope she does not lose steam as the drama progress like many such FL characters in K-dramas. Enjoying it so far and excited for the following episodes.
Today I spent some time mulling over the gap between online vs. on-site voters. There could be other motivations but I believe it is perspective.
The studio voters go to see the idols ready to be swept up and entertained. Their vote is very heat-of-the-moment. They're pressing their buttons all revved up from what they just saw. I mean we hear the audiences' screams and see some of their expressions. They are juiced so to speak.
I would say many online voters are like me. Watch every performance then compare. In my head, I put together my picks with the intention of forming a group that can stand amongst current idol groups. I pick my vocal group 2-3 covering low, mid, and high notes. Then come my rappers preferably 2 strong ones of differing vocal tones but complements each other. Then I have my dancers, a performance director/choreographer and a lead. Both of with potential for rap and sub-vocals. Then I want my all-rounder. So when I vote, I am mindful of the team dynamics and overall group visual as well.
I also look back at WannaOne, X1, Zerobaseone...so yeah. That's some strong groups to stand amongst of.
I feel like in every survival show i've watched there is always someone who the producers portray as the villain…
From what I saw in the episode, he was asking to leave the show and had a conversation with the staff. When speaking with his team he was asked about a remark he made about having to leave to which he gave a vague reply. As translated the li zihao, Zhong Xing expressed he would like to stop speaking about it. It seems like the staff gave him the impression if he does not go back to practicing and hanker on leaving, they would air their behind the scene conversation.
What I do not get is there is this trainee who would like to leave and is being kept in the show. He does not like to continue. He is problematic. His past and present teams have issues with him. How the producers of the show can seem to keep him is quite troubling. What is the motive? Sure the team would have to cope but it could have been for the better of all.
I ask the question, what is in place to facilitate the ejection or withdrawal of troublesome or troubled trainees who would like their journey cut short? What penalties does the show impose that these participants feel they are shackled in place. Regardless of the nationality or age of the trainee, there should be an exit strategy that is a viable.
This is just a show and I am concerned for the trainees long-term well-being.
HOT?!!! WTF happened? Love all the guys in the team but seriously? Is it too loud in the studio or is the pressure too much that the audience ears are affected? Because they are definitely not judging by lyricism, flow, delivery, etc. I mean all of those plus every bit of performance qualities, like delivery or stage presence or attitude, were chucked out the window. BTW Nian Bohengs mic level was horrible. I thought there was rehearsals and soundcheck where professionals are there to get this sh}t down?
Don't forget that Chinese trainee dressed up in a tee saying: Shaky, Insecure .... (the one from clapping hands…
I rewatched the performance to read the shirt. SO LIVID!!! That's a hardworking trainee, being a rapper doing his best in a vocal position, even foregoing meals. If I am not mistaken it read unstable, shaky, insecure, unsettled (could be wrong). Why not just buy a white T-shirt and print SUPER SPEEDY S-CLASS SUCCESS? Tasteful positive messaging. That's giving STYLE meets SUBSTANCE. Stylist or whoever is responsible for what he is wearing, deliberate or not, that was malicious and evil.
Stylists, please be sincere when outfitting the trainees and set them up for success. Their outfit is to help their stage presence and be equal to the other team especially on a 1vs1 stage.
Give the teams same backdrop to even the playing field. That way the variables minimized.
1) PLOT TWIST. Why can't both teams have a preppy look? Example trade the lettered jackets for plaid, houndstooth, sweater vests, cardigan. The DARK blue lettered jackets are so uggh aging. I mean the 15yo Yunseo and 16yo Taejo, two very young trainees, did not exude their innate youthfulness. It's ok my dear stylist to use light colors for both teams. Doing so will not render them unrecognizable from each other.
2) WHIPLASH. All Star stylist did mwah amazing. They looked so cool. But team 2's look was so barren like a desert. That particular fatigue pattern that was used looks tired and drained like it has seen too many wars and lost everyone of them. Ditch them puhleez. No idol should wear them ever. I mean what skin tone does it work for anyway? Why not outfit team 2 in white and red leather?
3) S-CLASS. All Star looked amazing and each a distinct character even when all were wearing blue denim and black. BUUUUT Team 2 looked like Minjae and his backup dancers. Why can't this team be in black leather pants and white tops. Minjae wearing a white jacket? It's like the stylist created a look for team 1 and ran out of ideas for team 2.
Okay now I got that off my chest. MNET are you reading this?
Wow so Ep2 Planet C. The judges' "constructive criticism" for Boy Story's Zihao and Hanyu had me gagged. I see the potential in the comments; they're coming from a good place, but yeah.
My picks, so far incomplete but I shortlisted: Lee Leo, Lee Sangwon, Sun Hengyu, He Xin Long, Zhou An Xin, Yoo Kangmin
Jinju, girl, I swear! I know your pride is hurt but seriously, your issues are not with Joo Hee. Sang Gyeong likes Joo Hee because she gives him what he wants and has what he desires in a partner. It's like oxygen to him. The reason you're not giving it because they're not there for you to pull out and give. The feelings that would move you to show that level of interest are not there and it is best you face this now.
You're comfortable with Sang Gyeong but you go 4K in vivid colors with Jae Keun, If you end up with neither, rewatch this Ep9 for an aha moment. Good luck and happiness to you.
