News A fun rom-com with an electrifying twist!
A pleasant and entertaining rom-com with a slightly original premise: the whole electricity and recharging concept adds a fun twist to an otherwise very familiar story.
Chae Soo-bin is adorable as always, and she is one of the drama’s biggest strengths. Kim Young-kwang is also more than decent as the male lead, and the two have excellent chemistry throughout the series, even in the more emotional and melodramatic moments. Their interactions are easily the highlight.
The supporting cast is a more mixed bag. Her family — parents, sister and brother — is lovely, but some of the other characters are rather underdeveloped and drawn with very little nuance. The grandmother, in particular, feels like a missed opportunity.
The drama is packed with rom-com clichés — probably all of them! — and occasionally slips into caricature. Another familiar weakness is the tendency to portray characters in their thirties as overly childish. A little of this can be funny, but when it goes on for too long, it becomes tiring and hard to believe.
The ending is predictable, as one would expect from this kind of rom-com, but it works well enough. The 10-episode format is also a good choice: the story remains enjoyable without being unnecessarily stretched.
Nothing groundbreaking, then, but a fun watch with a charming leading lady and a couple that genuinely works.
