i'm sure zhao lusi wants to assure her fans, but her condition is too bad to come back to the spotlight this quickly. i hope she takes the time for herself to recover, and stay away from work for now so she doesn't experience any triggers
really love these female leads and was really excited for a female-centric drama. however, after watching the first few episodes, i had a weird feeling. checked to see writers/producers, not surprised that it is a team of men. it definitely didn't have the womans touch i was looking for, however will still around for a bit longer.
the main character doctor baek is actually based on a real life doctor! his name is lee guk-jong, and specialized in trauma, ptsd, and gunshot wounds.
he is nicknamed by korean media asa 'miracle doctor' for saving the life of a north korean refugee who had been critically shot 5 times. he is also famous for saving the life of an abducted ship captain who had been shot multiple times on a mission near the gulf of aden, traveling to oman to help save him.
he was actually mistreated at the hospital he worked at for complaining about hospital investments and the lack of funding to the emergency department. he stated that funds were being misdirected, and said that the hospital lacked helicopters that were needed for rescue missions, delaying golden hour. (he actually has written a book specifically about the importance of golden hour!)
he tried to communicate with the hospital multiple times about them needed a helicopter landing pad, but was ignored. doctor lee guk-jong decided to buy a can of white paint and went outside and spray painted a giant 'H' on the hospital compound, indicating the space to be for helicopter landing.
he worked 120 hour work weeks, to the point where his left eye almost went blind after capillaries ruptured in his eye. during the sewol ferry incident, he suffered injuries from jumping out of the helicopter, a broken shoulder and his knee.
although the show itself is from a webtoon, a lot of references are made based off of doctor lee gok-jung. he sacrificed himself many times for the sake of patients, he is a real life hero!
park gyeong won (the anesthesiologist) is definitely one of my favorite characters! i love how much trust he had in doctor baek, and how he didn't care about time or money, just the patients well being. what a great character <3 of course, doctor anus and the main nurse are also equally as wonderful
"tvN has also revealed the lineup for 2025. Some of the dramas the South Korean network is airing this year include....."Huh.…
because we already knew about those other dramas. people have been waiting to see when resident playbook would drop finally because of the ban, the other shows had no issues
