I agree with you compleatly and this is what I have sad to my friend that has not yet watched the drama. This drama would not be the same without Xiao Zhan. He did an amazing job portraying the caracter of Wei Ying. I can imagine it without every other actor...but not without him.
I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't seen it and I don't know why I don't do it haha
True, you need to be invested in this show. I watched it only because of this corona situation. I had time to watch it and re-watch it and get my feelings in order before going back to work. To sum up it took me about 2 weeks to do all that hahahaha. Be prepared.
This drama really wrecked my mental state. I was really depressed after watching it! All the characters were flawed…
Guuuurl/booooy u are not the only one who got depressed after this drama. I was sad for a week. I tried everything to make myself forget about it but it did not work. So I kept re-watching it, until one day I got a little numb to all the emotions. Do not get me wrong, I still adore the show and think it is the best drama I have ever watched, but after watching the same scenes over and over again it does not affect me the same way any more. I did not idealize them any more and I was left with the reality of the story and was able to see the characters flaws, not in the way that they acted bad or anything, but in the way that everyone makes mistakes in life, we get hurt and sad and depressed, but we still keep on living, just as they did. Only in real life, people do not come back from the dead, unfortunately. Lucky them :) :)
You sad it all. Hands down :) English is not my first language and I could never describe this show as good as you have just now, but if I could I would write the same. This drama touches your heart and it makes you question your life and relationships. What struck me the most is the unselfishness of the main characters and sense of righteousness, and for that reason my heart was broken over and over again during the drama. How can one person do so many good deeds and be treated as public enemy, bashed around, lose the loved ones and than at the end, try to kill himself. Just to note, Wei Ying did make some poor choices here and there, but still, the injustice was overwhelming and it made me mad because, lets face it, isn't it the same in the real world too. Anyway, this drama reminds us that even though we consider our family as most important people in our life there are people out there that understand us better than our family. As you have put it, they are our soulmates, no matter the relationship. I watched this drama 3 times and every time I learned something new and let me tell u, I could watch it again. There are so many hidden gems in this drama that it is impossible to notice them all first, second....time watching and it will be hard to top this drama for the rest of my life.
