Title Lovestruck in the City Spoiler
That's exactly the problem... Everything is about her and jaewon is just there because this is supposed to be…
Yes!! He has no arc of his own. I guess his only purpose as a character was to love eunoh for those two months in yangyang, pine/obsess over her in Seoul for a year, and then wait for her until she’s ready (ep 16 preview is hinting at them getting back together so). Why show us jaewon’s suffering and drill it into our heads that he’s hurting if they’re not gonna do anything with it at the end. Where is his healing moment? Why does only Eunoh get to do that? The fact that I wouldn’t be this annoyed if eunoh would just say sorry to his face. Everything she said to her friends in the candle scene, she needed to have the same exact energy with jaewon. But that phone call was just “I’m grateful you loved me” “I wanted to be loved” “I need to find the real me” im like THIS ISNT ONLY ABOUT YOU. YOU HURT AN INNOCENT Person bc of your identity crisis!. JUST SAY SORRY TO THE MAN FFS. She doesn’t care about him at all and im supposed to believe she loves him f*ck that. You can prioritize yourself and still have remorse and compassion.
Can the writer at least give jaewon some dignity and self respect if they’re gonna make eunoh not give a rats ass about him.

As someone who was enjoying the show from ep 1-14.. ep 15 really killed it for me. I realized that this show does not care about jaewon as a character at all. It’s so incredible gross to me that the writer completed brushed off the topic of ghosting and the trauma jaewon went through. His feelings and pain are secondary to eunoh’s.

I’m not going to sit here and lie and say that I wasn’t rooting for either jaewon and eunoh to end up together or them making amends and going their separate ways. Because I was expecting the writer to give us a scene where eunoh finally gives jaewon a sincere apology with a honest conversation of why she did what she did. Then they could use this as a foundation to either start from a new beginning or just officially end things cleanly. But nope we never got that. That phone call scene in ep 15 gave jaewon closure but the intention behind it was so self centered. Eunoh didn’t give jaewon an explanation because she felt bad or guilty for ghosting him. She didn’t give him an explanation because she wanted him to heal and move on. Nah that whole conversation was all about HER. Not one mention about jaewon’s pain or his feelings. Not one sorry for what she did to him. The only sorry in that conversation was “I’m sorry this is the real me”. Like are you for real? Now look at the narrative changing. Everyone now sees eunoh as this poor innocent victim who needs to find herself bc she was cheated on and lost her job and jaewon as her love interest who just needs to understand and let her go. When in reality jaewon should also be a character who needs to fucking heal along with eunoh and move on bc he’s literally the victim in this entire situation . And the show refuses to acknowledge this. Jaewon is shoved to the back and what he went through doesn’t matter nor does it need to be be correctly addressed bc the person who ghosted him and treated him like trash needs to love herself first. Wow what a great message to send to your audience

Title Backstreet Rookie Spoiler
then why did you reach ep 14 if it "kills" you haha ur so funny
Maybe my words were kind of harsh (I wrote it after finishing ep 14 so I was in a bad mood lol) but I went up to ep 14 bc of jcw and kyj and hoping each week that the story would get better.. well it didn’t. everything I wrote here doesn’t even begin to touch the surface of all the other problems this drama has. It’ll take a whole essay to explain it all lol. Im glad you like the drama and is willing to overlook the bad but I can’t and I thought I’d share some of my thoughts. But if you want me to more specific then:

1. The official synopsis is literally “A 24 hour unpredictable comic romance between a four dimensional part timer and a handsome manager in a convenience store”. The actual romance doesn’t start until ep 11. after the writer wasted the first 10 episodes. Pacing is important.. they dragged the dh+yj plot and now we have to rush the real otp romance.. the drama is ending this week when dh+sb’s relationship just started lol. The pd can scream into a microphone about how BR is actually a family drama but if it’s not promoted as such aka put in the teasers, posters, synopsis, and other promotional material then it doesn’t matter.

2. The comedy.. well if you enjoy parodies/skits that’s fine but I’d wish the writer and pd would use that time to idk focus on actual storytelling instead.

3. Side characters and their storylines literally took up half the screen time in ep 13 and 14 and their stories are totally unrelated to the main plotline aka the romance between of dh and sb. Eunbyul and her idol/gang problem, yeonjoo and her overall presence, dalshik and geunbi’s relationship, dh’s dad and his 1st love.. again all of these have NOTHING to do with dh and sb’s romance/love story .. not to mention again dh+yj’s relationship drama taking up more than half of the 16 episodes
Yes the characters flip flop bc the script says so and the only character who has any type of character development is saetbyul and thats only after being victimized and put through hell every other day like can this girl catch a break?! Wtf has daehyun the ml done in 14 episodes like something substantial... We are never shown his pov on anything so we as viewers have no idea what’s ever going inside his head.. his inner conflicts, his thoughts, etc. the flip flopping.. well yeonjoo went from cheating, to wanting to restart with daehyun, to dumping him, then wanting him back bc of reasons. If that’s not flip flopping idk what is. Daehyun went from never really giving sb the time of day unless she got herself in trouble.. then after he got dumped, not even 48 hours later , starts to like sb bc ??? Well i don’t know since like I said we are never shown his pov. Dh’s mom and dad had huge character development in ep 10 and that went down the drain in ep 14.. and seemingly in ep 15.

Wow this drama is literally being carried by the main leads bc the writing, directing, and editing is absolutely abysmal. How was this script green lit? It’s so bad that I’m actually kind of impressed. The writer should find a new job bc even I could come up with something better. It kills me that this is an adaption of a controversial/problematic webtoon and somehow it’s even worse said webtoon. It takes real incompetence to make something worse than an already bad source material. The only reason you should even attempt to watch this drama is if you’re a fan of jcw and kyj or need something to kill time. I’m watching this drama so y’all don’t have to. Don’t waste your time. There’s barely any romance and the comedy is just unfunny gags, parodies, skits etc repeated in every episode. It gets old and tiring fast. Side characters get the same amount of screen time as the supposed main leads together and their stories do nothing to develop their relationship and story. Remove them and nothing changes. These characters flip flop and change motivations every 5 minutes only bc the script says so. Again don’t waste your time. I wish I could get 14 hours of my life back. Jcw and kyj are really cute tho. Like I said the only good thing about this drama is them.
