The main plot was revenge and palace scheming. The hot discussions weren't on romance. It was popular cause it appealed to older audiences and all ages, not only young women who typically watch for romance. Plot is always king. Second is character setup. Obviously idol dramas exist cause romance is popular but will still fail if written poorly.

I have to disagree. Dramas that don't get popular is not because there is lack of romance or CP but because the plot in general is lacking. Story of Yanxi Palace focuses on the whole cast and little on romance but still got lots of people talking because the plot was actually good. CP is just icing on the cake or used as backup to keep fans watching when the plot is unpopular.

All of his upcoming dramas are categorized as idol dramas and most of his past dramas have romance as the major point of attraction. That's why so many comments like to talk about couple chemistry and whatnot. I know he wants to act in other genres like police dramas but there still hasn't been an opportunity so far. It's hard finding a good script in general so many actors are stuck filming idol dramas even if they want to film other things.

Of course he's not an idol. Idols are singers. He's a model turned actor. I'm talking about idol dramas. It's normal he's taking many idol dramas while he's young cause that's what is largely available for his age and it's how young actors build their name. Most actors aren't expected to transition into serious roles until their 30s. That's when cnetz care more about acting than looks.

Interview questions are looked through by the team before it gets asked. It's been a running joke between him and his fans so they poke fun whenever they bring it up. His fans are happy with how he looks right now and cnetz also think he's in good condition compared to before. It shows his dedication to his career. Looks are extremely important in c-ent especially for idol dramas. Everyone who enters this field will get judged by their looks. C-ent has no shortage of handsome actors and beauties and those who don't stand out usually lose on opportunities. That's the reality.

I guess you don't know that he jokes with his fans about his weight all the time. He's just staying fit to look suitable for his roles. It's technically part of his job. He's not trying to look unhealthy and sickly.

Yu Zheng needs help attracting investors himself to make his own dramas. For someone like him who loves to claim credit for everything, if it's related to him at all, it will no doubt have Huanyu stamped on the drama poster. It's only his artists participating that makes people think it's even related to him. Similar to when Xu Kai was casted for She and Her Perfect Husband made people thought it was Yu Zheng's credit even though he had zero involvement in casting or production.

Being the richest company means they can give many actors jobs. This include supporting actors and others behind the scenes. Sure there are plenty of mediocre dramas but that is better than having no opportunities at all. If you look at the overall industry, there are only a handful of good scripts in a year. Success isn't guaranteed just by airing on a certain platform. There are way more factors involved.

Dramas can get delayed regardless of platform. It's all just luck.

I highly doubt it. Tencent is more than just dramas. Its business goes beyond relying on celebrities as spokespeople. Penguin Pictures is only one of the many companies it owns. It's not called a tech giant for nothing.

Despite some issues with Tencent, it is still one of the largest broadcasting platforms with high number of users so the audience is bigger compared to many other platforms

The agency releases roster posters every year. You can see the names of all actors in the company from seniors to rookies.

Only Xu Kai and He Rui Xian. None of the other actors are from Yu Zheng's company
