I lot of historical cdramas and movies got shelved during this time. Ie: The Fated General. Because these’s history involved, they censor based on many reasons that we as viewers will not know. I heard some reasons maybe because the historical person who shows poor moral should not be painted as a hero in the drama. They don’t want to encourage bad behavior in the Chinese people. If the history is also twisted, faked, and too far fetched from the truth, then they get censored. It can also be the history is a bit taboo or shameful, so they don’t want it widespread in entertainment.
For this movie, the historical people, Fu Jian, was rumored to have taken both the Murong prince and princess hostages as his lovers. If this was real, the prince was underaged at this time, which is wrong in our time. There is probably some BL scenes involved or hinted. BL shows were all cancelled during this time period!
Recently we had some BL cdramas being bought by Japan or Thailand, so maybe there’s hope this movie gets bought outside of China.
Thanks for the recommendations! Nice choices! After watching A Journey to Love, I fell into a drama slump. Sampled like 5-6 dramas and couldn’t finish any of them. Mysterious Lotus Casebook was one of those I dropped, too slow and boring for my slump. Until someone recommended “Oh No Here Comes Trouble”, a short tv series of 12 episodes. The first episode was funny then shocking, so it grabbed my attention! I moved on to The Knockout afterwards, and that was a beauty of strategy and schemes, great acting and beautiful cinematography.
Omg Alen Fang in a modern drama looks so handsome! I can’t wait to see him. I’m just really worried about the FL actress. She ruined many dramas for me because of her emotionless stone face acting.
I think is this the most frustrating female lead I had ever watched in an Asian drama. I'm currently watching…
Well, in real life, if a guy like Cheng Zheng was after me, I'll think he's a stalker and really annoying! His teenager-self is so immature. Especially if you don't like the guy, and he keeps coming on to you, it's really scary to have someone stalk you. I just have no feelings for the ML/FL relationship.
I watched "Court Lady", but his role is kind of the annoying 3rd wheeler in love with the FL. The story between the ML and FL is SO ANNOYING, makes the story hard to watch. His acting in "Winter Begonia" is so so good, just too bad he's only in 4-6 episodes or so, but the drama is really worth watching. Before "Under the Skin", I saw Tan Jian Ci in "Twisted Fate of Love", thinking how cute the prince looks, but he rarely shows up, plus after 10 episodes I just can't watch the rest of the drama.
His previous works are very limited in role, camera time, and/or the drama is just kind of crappy, not worth your time to watch. I'm really waiting for his upcoming roles when he can be the main lead to show off his acting. I can't wait to see "Are you Safe".
I started watching Hi!6 since Tan Jian Ci joined as regular member. He's so funny, can act, dance, and sing. Jian Ci in mother's day edition 5/14/2022 was so funny with the live stream act!
Still waiting... so many drama announcements recently, why is there still no air date for "Are you safe"?! I can't wait anymore to see more Tan Jian Ci's works.
This drama has way too much randomness in it. Why can't it just focus on one thing?! Oh, because it has to put in filler episodes! All the couple pairing and trying too hard to be a romance drama doesn't work. It's so awkward and add no value, just distraction.
