Well, the plot is not the problem. It's the execution. It's ALWAYS the execution in most Thai BLs. The series…
i'm glad you thought so - i do agree it depends of how you interpret and perceive the story. i can definitely see how some people could take it negatively especially as this type of thing might not be for everyone, but i'm glad i could give a different perspective to it. i also agree that the quality of it really does depend on how the last few episodes pan out, i'm hoping they'll give everything a proper resolution with the time that's left.

thanks for reading my long comment though!! i appreciate it, not everybody will take hte time to read through

i do definitely agree with all of that actually - but at the moment as the series itself hasn't ended yet i'm not really going to comment of how far into it they get as there's still time for them to delve further into it if it's done smart.

i think where my opinion differs just slightly (if i am interpreting your comment properly, that is), is that the psychological developments between the main characters aren't necessarily driving away from the original plot (at least not yet). i do believe, however, that what they're trying to go for with the heavy storyline and heavy character developments, the amount of time and episodes they've allocated for the story and characters might not be enough.

i do 100% get what you say though, especially looking back at that very first trailer a lot of things have changed and there is more of a romantic focus now than the original plotline. that is bl for you though, like you said, people wouldn't want to watch it if they didn't have any of that.

oh jeez didn't mean to flood the comments section with my essay of opinions but here we are - i hope some people can at least take a small peak through and try to look at this series from another angle though

Title The Eclipse
i really don't understand the point of view of a lot of the comments on here - this show is really great and genuinely has some great development especially with characters and hints towards the plot. i'm currently wondering if people aren't looking at the psychological developments throughout this entire series and the subtleties in the way they give out new information. no, maybe there hasn't been a big reveal for how everything is happening yet and how they're tackling the mystery of the plot, but there has been so much revealed in the thinking aspect of things. (note: also wanted to add that the way they have been giving out hints and key information instead of showing full blown direct plot development has really given time for the characters to go in depth and develop more.)

for one, the "curse" plot is still very much being revealed bit by bit and each episode there's new key information for the way the plot is being developed - last episode was the reveal that chadok was a part of the start of the curse, not necessarily the one who came up with it, but definitely keeping it in tact and this episode it was revealed that chadok has been pushed to crack down on the students by someone higher up and gives way to the idea that there is someone bigger than him in this "cult"

going on about the "cult" idea - the development between akk and ayan makes so much sense when put into perspective. whether you like the push and pull or not, it's there for a genuine reason: akk is brainwashed and almost being forced to lead this cult with so many pressures at the age of 17. i saw a bunch of posts taking clips of scenes between chadok and akk, and with them the people put the phases of manipulation as well as manipulation techniques used by cultists to convert people into their cult. an example was 'picking the right target', akk seemed to almost be selected to be head prefect, and when you look at it he genuinely is the perfect target for manipulation - he's a country kid, his parents don't seem to be overly well-off, he said to ayan in the gym that "it felt like i have a sign stuck to my forehead labelling me 'country bumpkin'". in this sense, he's an easy target - especially when the school started to approach him so warmly and offer him so many good things like scholarships and leader positions.

going on this, akk is definitely the target of the school, and when he's so far into being brainwashed it becomes so incredibly hard to change that mindset. yes, he may be a 'tsundere' character, but it's actually a pretty genuine example of how someone in that situation would react. when ayan first comes in, akk's very much under chadok's control - he idolises chadok, believes every word, trusts chadok's beliefs and also completely trusts the school. chadok had been telling akk from day 1 that ayan was not to be trusted - so naturally as far under manipulation as akk is, mixed with the combination of his grown feelings for ayan, there's a lot of push and pull between the lead couple. when you look into the emotions and mental struggles, there is a lot of conflict between akk's manipulated and brainwashed self and his own emotions and grown feelings for ayan. i think that the push and pull, as much as we don't necessarily want it, is very well placed and written out.

it seems maybe my opinion is a minority on here - but i genuinely do think this is one of the best written bl so far. there is definitely development there, no doubt about that. but i don't think i've seen a bl that is done in the same subtly eerie way that has been done here. i see people mentioning that this show is very slow in its developments but with the way it's written and directed i feel that if it went any faster the character development and mysteriousness of being left with a new hint or two each week would be ruined. it might be due to the wait time between episodes, but i think more than anything this show is an amazing show to be able to experience as its being released - being able to take the new clues and hints each week and to think about which ways the plot can development psychologically is an exhilarating experience and it's the most fun i've had in a long while. fridays are most certainly the days that i'm always incredibly enthusiastic about, don't know what i'll do when its over.
