Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about their relationship (Love that the ML is so expressive, though). There are some gaps in the way their dynamic is written. It feels quite disjointed. The developments in the present - and I'm not all caught up so take this with a pinch of salt - are pretty well-written, though. Completely understand why you can't overlook the relationship bit. To each their own, I guess :))
it's queen of tears so great? I've started to watch the 1 episode but dropped it... guess I've to try it again,…
I dropped it for a moment after the first episode too because his reaction to her news was rubbing me the wrong way BUT i picked it up again after a few more episodes were out and i really like the show now. Still have a few issues with some of the writing but with everything else that's been coming out these days, it's a solid watch
This hurts to say, especially considering how much I usually love slow dramas and loved the first part, but this…
Also, before anyone comes at me - all characters (and yes, I mean all. Even S1 Ryang Eum and the husband) are some of my favourite characters ever written because they are so layered. This isn't a comment on the characters and their emotions and whether they deserve to feel them and the morality of it all. It's about the plot and the pacing.
This hurts to say, especially considering how much I usually love slow dramas and loved the first part, but this show has made me reach levels of frustration so high that I am a minute away from dropping it - which is a shame because I truly thought that this was going to be my 2023 drama of the year alongside Moving.
I feel like episode 12 and13 could have easily been condensed to an episode at most?? They are progressing so. impossibly. SLOWLY. that my fingers have been itching to press fast forward/jump entire scenes. I'm just hoping that the rest of the season is not endless pining because 13 episodes is enough to drive that star crossed lovers point home. I don't mean that they should suddenly have them get together because that would be weird in terms of the tone of the show and the baggage that both of them have between them but give the audience something other than missed encounters and misunderstandings. It's such a lazy plot device.
I love angsty romance as much as the next tween who grew up on AO3 and wattpad but the writers really need to move the story forward. The only thing that we have found out about Jang Hyun in the last 3 episodes (after waiting for them for 1 month, moreover) is that he is sad. And while Gil Chae's character has been through hell and back, we haven't seen anything about her character that we didn't already know (she's gritty, she's proud and will find a way). So much has happened with and to her but not much has changed in terms of the plot, which is so different from the first season because there you could see her character develop almost by the minute. Now it feels like the whole show has sort of just plateaued and they've added the princess plot line for the sake of it (as though they didn't have enough problems to resolve already).
Wow the entire younger cast's backs must hurt from carrying the whole drama. The only reason I could finish this is because of the chemistry between Jeon So Nee and Jinyoung. I usually love Yoo Jitae but I had to fast forward through all of his scenes in this one. The present was so flat, I couldn't, for a second, be convinced that they were crazy in love which is sad because this drama had so much potential sigh.
