I watched it in Japanese with no subs on Rakuten Channel. (It's kind of like Amazon Prime, but Japanese. It's also the only place I was able to find it.) I'm not sure if it's accessible outside of Japan though. I had to look it up in Japanese to even find it. I hope this helps.
If you think the drama wasn't good, you should read the manga... It's worse.
The drama looks like the best drama in the world, if you compare it to the manga. It's so bad.
I guess the manga was so bad that I actually like drama. It's a good example of taking bad source material and making it better in the adaptation.
Apparently the manga won some awards or something, which is why it was turned into a drama... But it sucked. According to the author, she wanted to write a story about "a boy chasing the person he wants to meet to the end of hell! He's holding a knife!" But that story was rejected and changed to "a brave and pure boy who goes to see the person he wants to meet! His eyes are sparkling!" The original story would have had an "open-ended" or a "bad ending."
Well we dont know much about the novel anyway i dont think theres a English translation of that novel so idc really
Then you'll definitely enjoy it! It's actually a nice film if you haven't read the novel. Definitely look forward to watching it when it comes out with English subs.
I wrote the tumblr recap that OP says is context-less and inaccurate. Cheers to you.
I didn't say your content was context-less or inaccurate, please don't put words in my mouth. But there are some portions that were taken out of context because you don't speak Japanese. You, yourself said you don't speak Japanese in your recap. Your spoiler was overall decent. There wasn't that many things that were lost in translation, but there were a couple.
What is wrong with fixing some of your misunderstandings due to your lack of language skills? If you don't want me to fix some things that were lost in translation for you, then that is fine.
First of all, thank you for the detailed review. Now I know what to expect. That being said, unlike you I am actually…
No worries, I don't disagree. I agree with you 100%. The good thing about the Live Action was they made a lot of changes to Hira and Kiyoi. However, I felt like they started to backtrack on the changes they made to each character from around season2. It felt like they were trying to reverse the changes they made so that they can follow the plot of the novels.
Not gonna lie, I was really hoping that they didn't follow the novel for the movie. But because they did I was disappointed. For example, I like how they changed the POV from Kiyoi to Hira during the kidnapping because it shows a different side of Hira that we haven't seen before. But because I read the novel I felt the novel's version of Shitara's incident was done better than the movie.
Honestly, they shouldn't have followed the novel. They should have made their own original script focusing on Hira's camera journey, or Hira and Kiyoi's difficulties as a couple, or something other than the novel.
But again, while I was disappointed, I still like the movie. It was nice and I'm going to rewatch it once again in theaters sometime before it finishes.
Was it everything put together from seasons 1 &2 for the movie if you don't please let me know
The movie was taken from novel 2. It is a continuation from season2, so it has a new storyline from both seasons. Brand new plot, scenes, etc.
If you watched season 1 and 2, you need to watch the movie to see if they get their happily ever after because it doesn't look like they are going to continue with novel 3 for the like action.
From what I have seen those who saw the movie today have had nothing but good things to say about it.
Thanks. I really liked it as a continuation of the Live Action, but when I think of it from the novel's POV, it feels like I was let down. I wasn't expecting everything either, but in this case I think they shouldn't have followed the plot of the novel and instead made their own version.
Oh well.
But that mesh veil! I think that's bothering me more than the actual plot of the movie. I was trying to watch the kiss scene and it kept getting in the way! LOL
Either way I'm probably going to rewatch it again while it's in theaters. Maybe the second time around I'll like it better.
I just watched it in theaters last night. It was nice, but don't watch it with expectations after reading the novel or listening to the drama CD. Please push all of those expectations to the side when watching this movie.
It's a good movie, but our favorite scenes from the novel didn't live up to the hype of the novel. It felt like watered down version of it because we didn't get any of Kiyoi's POV. Also Shitara and Anna's characters weren't fleshed out enough to enjoy them like we did in the novel.
Still a nice movie though. I'm planning on watching it in theaters again maybe with a clear mind and no expectations from the novel.
here's a summary someone wrote. obviously major spoiler warning if you were to read ithttps://www.tumblr.com/anotherblblog/713954708891533312/thanks-for-the-correction-ill-update-my-recap
As someone who watched it in theaters last night, this recollection of the film isn't entirely wrong, but a lot of things were taken out of context because the blogger doesn't speak Japanese.
Sorry, I read the blog too and it's very different from what I saw in theaters last night.
If you would like a more accurate spoiler please let me know. I'll write one for you.
From what I have seen those who saw the movie today have had nothing but good things to say about it.
I watched it last night in theaters. I might be one of the odd balls then because I didn't think it was worth the hype. The others coming out of the theaters with me (other patrons) were also talking about they were expecting more.
Don't get me wrong, it was a nice movie, but if you've read the novel or drama cd then it was disappointing. It was like a watered down version of what it could have been.
The film was still nice to watch though.
(Sorry if I sound like a downer, but I really want to talk with someone about my experience, but I have no one around me who wanted to watch it with me. LOL )
I'm in Japan and I just watched it today. I wrote a review on it, but essentially it's a lot better than the series.
There are a few extended scenes here and there that make the story flow more smoothly, but it's actually the lack of BGM that makes this edit better than the series. Rewatching the series after the special edit, I felt the series was more cluttered and distracting with too many flashbacks and too much music.
Please watch it when it comes out because it's so much better than the series.
I'm starting to get concerned over this site's authenticity. I tried to add the TharnType 7 years later sequel to this, and vice versa because it's not listed here and was rejected. Like both titles say TharnType, so how are they not related? I'm a little offended by the lack of research or common sense.
We're supposed to be cheering on Yu Zhen and Shin Lei, not Yu Zen and his Ex, so this special episode made me uncomfortable. Could we get a special episode with Yu Zhen and Shin Lei as the focus instead?
I feel like this a scenario of where they just can't get over their Ex and keep reliving all the good ole days with their Ex, despite having their new partner right next to them. It really makes me uncomfortable.
Did anyone get uncomfortable watching the scenes with Yu Zhen and his Ex?
While it's not terrible, the main focus should be on Yu Zhen and Shin Lei, so I got really uncomfortable watching Yu Zhen and his Ex kissing and all of their flashback love scenes. (Even that dream where Yu Zhen was imagining his Ex and Shin Lei kissing made me uncomfortable.)
Don't even get me started on the special episode... I skipped most of it.
I'm not sure if it's accessible outside of Japan though.
I had to look it up in Japanese to even find it.
I hope this helps.

Like you'll be giggling in your seat happy.
