Title Story of Kunning Palace Spoiler
I was befuddled in the beginning. I didn't like how the flashbacks made me feel as if I was watching spoilers. I also felt it was difficult to follow the connections among the characters in the beginning. Their history wasn't clear enough that some of Jiang Xue Ning's efforts to change that history lacked emotional impact for me as a viewer. But there was so much potential in the set up and characters that I felt compelled to continue nonetheless. And I am happy to report that I was rewarded for my commitment. I think it was around ep 15 that the puzzle pieces really started to fall into place and the story became so engaging all the way to the end. Also, I just really like watching Zhang Ling He on screen. He is so fine. I've liked him since Maiden Holmes and he's good at playing nice characters. But I was so into this dark character he channels here. He can glare at me all day.

I did not think I would end up liking the fake Ding Fei character. I even wondered why such a flippant, womanizing idiot is taken to be the real Ding Fei and taint Ding Fei's name with his behavior. But the purpose is obvious now and that slap was AMAZING. Lmao.

Haha yes. I switched over here after being burned from watching Lost You Forever as the person I was rooting for didn't get the girl. And then it felt like it was happening here too! But scanning over the comments, I don't think I will be disappointed so I am going to continue.

We are also very sad about her not being end up with XL but It's still worth to watch even if Xiang Liu is not…
Thanks. I think I will continue once I've gotten over my disappointment. I do like watching them together. I think Xiang Liu would be perfect for her when she is Wen Xiao Liu. I could totally see them wandering around together, going on adventures and causing mischief wherever they go.

I watched him for the first time in Lost You Forever and I was very impressed with his acting. He looks so stately and handsome with those expressive eyes, simply perfect for costume dramas. And I just noticed he's cast in Nirvana in Fire 3 and I can totally see him in a drama like that, killing it in political conversations with veteran actors. I am looking forward to it.

This show proves a drama can be intelligent without being dull. And they managed to make all three relationships so engaging in different ways and I watched entertained, without worries. But that was because I thought we knew from the beginning who she'd ultimately end up with. I have never seen Zhang Wan Yi before but I'm so impressed with him as Cang Xuan that I am so disappointed to learn from the comments he's not the one she ends up with. (My 2nd choice would be Xiang Liu; as twisted as he was, he was captivating, but apparently it's not him either.) On ep 20 now. I don't even know if I want to continue....

The episode with Kim Ji Hoon and Kim Jae Wook was a strange mix of feeling super creeped out and not being able to handle all that hotness xD

I rewatched this drama recently; I'd forgotten how outstanding it was that I was able to experience the thrill for the second time. I came back here to check my initial rating (10) and the site rating (9.1) and still agree it should be this highly rated. Not only is the plot captivating and unique, there is strong acting all around, from the main leads to the cop colleagues and villains. But especially Lee Joongi as the tortured anti-hero Baek Hee Sung/Do Hyun Soo. I had never understood why he was such a darling with fans until this drama. He blew me away with his duality here. There are many close-ups of him in the drama where you can clearly observe his features as he processed information as the main character; trying with all his might to overcome his inability to feel emotions the way most do. In particular, the scene where he's trying to understand how his wife is feeling and how he's feeling as they looked at their new born daughter. As calm as he looks, you can feel his struggle to understand. It's like a paradox because it's in these moments that proves how deeply he cares about his wife and child. One of the most heartbreaking characters ever and Lee Joongi portrayed this character superbly.

The drama is an intriguing take on social media pervasive trends; a reflection of today's vain and shallow online society. But it's a world we can't help but entangle ourselves in, just like the heroine. What kept me engaged is the heroine's battle of wits with spoiled brats and their vile behaviors and staggering display of wealth. It is a spectacle and the heroine's takedown of this world is nothing short of stellar. And the romance, while peripheral to the entire story, is absolutely magnetic. Jun Kyung is from the same breed as the rest of the chaebol, and yet, I couldn't help liking his matter of fact attitude about it. And those silent looks he gives her, like damn. I like Ari even more for her ability to completely knock him out at his own games lol. Lastly, the soundtrack is such a vibe. I enjoyed this drama.

It took me a while to get hook to this show but I am really enjoying it now. The leads are fantastic. I've always liked Yoona and Jun Ho as actors so I'm not surprised to see them carry the show so well here. The downside is there are a lot of annoying, hateful side characters in the drama but I do love how the heroine handles them with such class and grace. And Jun Ho's character; I can't help but notice how he doesn't really work lol but it's a romcom after all. And he's so swoony, I forgive him. I love the super slow shots of moments between the couple, which are always accompanied by the wonderful OST. Don't take this drama seriously and you'll be able to enjoy it.

The flashback high school scenes are really cute. That could have been a full length youth drama. The leads have enough talents for the task.

do you know any other drama like this?
If you check the Slap and Kiss tag, you will find some similar dramas but I don't think any of it is as well made or as modern as Hua Jai Sila.

Rewatching it again. Thor and Min's scenes always fascinates me. She often starts by provoking the tiger with her accusatory comments. Thor responds with sarcasm, with a bit of tease. Min takes offense and throws another bomb in retaliation. That gets Thor riled up for real. And the conversation escalates until bam, he kisses her to shut her up lol. It's such a fun watch every time.

He's such a good actor. I watched The Starry Love and Fall in Love in parallel and he seems like two completely different people (and not just because of the voice difference). So much so that I checked his drama list more than a couple times to confirm the characters are portrayed by the same person lol. And it's also amazing how he looks handsome in both long flowy hair and clean cut short hair.

I always tell my sister who has never watched a Lakorn that first-timers always either claim “Hua Jai Sila”…
My first thai drama was Kleun Cheewit, which I enjoyed. Hua Jai Sila was 2nd (there were years in between trying each though). It was Hua Jai Sila that solidified my likes for lakorns and made me continue to watch lakorns.

Very enjoyable watch. The leads portray one of the healthiest relationships in dramaland and in a Republican era drama at that lol. It was spicy in the beginning, flirty in the middle then really sweet, and the little bit of angst was also very good. The leads are excellent together; what a classy couple. And Chen Xing Xu is so fine in uniform.

He was so much fun as the Beast Prince in The Starry Love. The profile picture does not do him justice; he's way cuter. And a good actor. I would love to see more of him in dramas.

A friend of mine felt the same about that arc in AOL. I was so into it and she was like "it's just ok" lol. TMOPB was what got me into Chinese dramas, so totally understand haha.

I remember liking the mortal arc in TMOPB and I really loved the mortal arc in Ashes of Love, a personal favorite. But agree, more often than not the deviations are just an ok part of the overarching story.
