This drama is so seriously underrated here (7.9) that it's ridiculous. To be clear, it's not perfect. However, I applaud the drama for not catering to conventional views of what's cool and offers us this unique blend of campy, zany entertainment. I loved the quirkiness of the family, and the unassuming male lead who is secretly such a hunk. A fun watch overall.

He is a new fave. He is so hot and an excellent actor, with a very strong screen presence. Loved him in Taking Love as a Contract. I will be watching My Uncanny Destiny next. It is so puzzling that he hasn't starred in more dramas as a lead. He deserves more and I want more of him!

This is so highly underrated (7.1). Yes, the plot is contrived. However, once you get past the set up, the way the leads play out the scenes is anything but. It's such an engaging watch. Though not all scenes are created equal (I'll admit some are pretty cringe), most are great. I loved certain interactions between the leads so much the repeat watch turned this short format drama into a 40 minute per episode drama for me lol. I love the way they dance around each other, especially the way the male lead commands the screen. I think he plays this dark character, with his cold and distant demeanor better than some of the other more well known actors out there. And then he turns into this puppy once in love and his smile is just adorable and they're really cute together. This is a worthwhile, easy watch. Just ignore the last episode.

Episode 8 is so, so sweet.

This male lead is smoking hot. I can't recall the last time someone looked this fine in specs. I love the way he carries himself; assured, unfazed, channeling a dark character. And his chemistry with the female lead is fantastic. I wish this were a full length drama but it's good as is too. Still watching (I will ignore the last episode as recommended lol).

Now that I'm done, I am rewatching from the beginning, but only watching Xie Wei and Jiang Xue Ning's scenes. So it's no longer a slow burn romance. It's so obvious from the start he likes her. Watching Lu Xian tease him knowningly about JXN is such a delight. Or watching him get annoyed whenever his clueless guard blabbers on about getting rid of JXN. It's so funny. And how private qin lessons are just an excuse to treat her snacks, but served with a side of scowls and glares lol.

Yes, I love the songs and background music for the drama as well. Hauntingly beautiful.

I ran over here to comment after watching the extra episode (38.5). Wasn't that intimate wedding just absolutely beautiful? The way he's beaming at her! It's such a treat because he barely smiles the entirety of the drama. And one of the things I love about this drama is the cinematography. It's just so pleasing to the eyes. The leads look gorgeous and the sets look as if real, wealthy people lived in those places. I don't normally watch extra episodes because I find they often don't add much to the story, or kind of leaves you feeling unsatisfied. But this was simply perfect.

Haha yes. I find it so heartwarmingly hilarious because it's often so unexpected. It's like because the drama is so serious at times that just when you have your guard down as a viewer, he hits you with these things on full blast and completely knocks you out lol. Like when he snatched that walnut cake from that girl who took it from Jiang Xue Ning, lmao, or telling his guards why are you here so soon at the cave, or him getting so jealous of Zhang Zhe, he confronts JXN with a speech using rain as metaphor (fantastic speech, btw) and then ya'll know what happened next. He's awesome.

I was befuddled in the beginning. I didn't like how the flashbacks made me feel as if I was watching spoilers. I also felt it was difficult to follow the connections among the characters in the beginning. Their history wasn't clear enough that some of Jiang Xue Ning's efforts to change that history lacked emotional impact for me as a viewer. But there was so much potential in the set up and characters that I felt compelled to continue nonetheless. And I am happy to report that I was rewarded for my commitment. I think it was around ep 15 that the puzzle pieces really started to fall into place and the story became so engaging all the way to the end. Also, I just really like watching Zhang Ling He on screen. He is so fine. I've liked him since Maiden Holmes and he's good at playing nice characters. But I was so into this dark character he channels here. He can glare at me all day.

I did not think I would end up liking the fake Ding Fei character. I even wondered why such a flippant, womanizing idiot is taken to be the real Ding Fei and taint Ding Fei's name with his behavior. But the purpose is obvious now and that slap was AMAZING. Lmao.

Haha yes. I switched over here after being burned from watching Lost You Forever as the person I was rooting for didn't get the girl. And then it felt like it was happening here too! But scanning over the comments, I don't think I will be disappointed so I am going to continue.

Thanks. I think I will continue once I've gotten over my disappointment. I do like watching them together. I think Xiang Liu would be perfect for her when she is Wen Xiao Liu. I could totally see them wandering around together, going on adventures and causing mischief wherever they go.

I watched him for the first time in Lost You Forever and I was very impressed with his acting. He looks so stately and handsome with those expressive eyes, simply perfect for costume dramas. And I just noticed he's cast in Nirvana in Fire 3 and I can totally see him in a drama like that, killing it in political conversations with veteran actors. I am looking forward to it.

This show proves a drama can be intelligent without being dull. And they managed to make all three relationships so engaging in different ways and I watched entertained, without worries. But that was because I thought we knew from the beginning who she'd ultimately end up with. I have never seen Zhang Wan Yi before but I'm so impressed with him as Cang Xuan that I am so disappointed to learn from the comments he's not the one she ends up with. (My 2nd choice would be Xiang Liu; as twisted as he was, he was captivating, but apparently it's not him either.) On ep 20 now. I don't even know if I want to continue....
