I love the drama and all the details, it’s just the low episode count that has me anxious and honestly ruining my viewing experience. 😭 I don’t mind them prolonging the breakup if it means properly showing their 6yrs and the lead-up to it. BUT if you’re going to do that, you need more episodes.
They can’t break up in Ep21, spend Ep22-23 as 3 years apart, likely not reunite until the end of Ep23 or even Ep24, and then cram his year of wooing/groveling, getting back together, meeting their families AND their post-reunion growth into Ep24. How am I supposed to believe they’ve genuinely grown and that this time their relationship dynamics will be healthy and communicative if we barely get to see it? 😭
Just to clarify because of the editing and cutting down of episodes. She did finish her full time in rural area, another 9 months or so. She came back to Beijing one time and then both cancel their trips with their own friends and decide to go on a road trip together. They edited out all the inbetween time gaps.
i didn’t get why he went to Northest China for work and then they ended up traveling with the dog too. did they…

If the roommate writes in his letter that he had unrequited feelings for Flora, I will seriously be so disgusted. Its such a selfish thing to reveal then and not prior, she could be left with misplaced guilt for the rest of her life.
I don’t remember this convo happening in the novel so this scene feels left field to me. It’s only logical…
I just saw the Ep 19 trailer, looks like they did break up for 3 months? And then got back together? And I guess the final breakup happens after that? That actually makes the drama convo make more sense in some ways, because realistically, these conversations needed to happen too. No woman is going to just not bring this up for 6 years. 😭
So at the end of Ep 18, which is the end of their 4th year? She’s 26 and he’s 32, right?
I found the timing of her convo really off, her friend inspired her bring it up, but it was poor timing. They are at such a weird stage of jealousy and neither of them feels secure. I'm glad she brought it up and proud of her, but damn its such shit timing. 😭
If I had that kind of convo with a guy at that stage, it would end there. Based on her monologue, she’d already realised they were just on different wavelengths in life and in the relationship. Either of them could’ve ended it there on good terms, like, “we want different things.”
But deep down, they want the same things, but just aren’t saying it. It should probably end here, but breaking up takes soo much courage too. You start building this mental list of reasons to break it off - listing pros and cons, start becoming more resentful and way more toxic the longer you stay. OR maybe she was hoping they could finally break that wall between them, but eventually just got tired of trying. So I guess it kind of makes sense that it takes another 1.5 years before something finally crosses that breaking point or hard limit. But it’s still insane to me. 😭
