I would like to know everyone's opinion on the relationship between CSS and her mother in episodes 26 and 27. Did the horrible humiliation in episode 24 followed by the big argument calm everything down for them? The mother seemed to regret her words when she said them but she is so conditioned to go down the wrong path that she didn't back down and, later, preferred to lash out at her daughter as usual, rather than making a compromise and acknowledging her own faults. But I'm having a hard time fully interpreting her (and CSS's) attitude after that. Did the idea of being separated forever (a marriage for a girl is a separation because she leaves her clan) and the hurtful words exchanged made them both have regrets? CSS wants her mother to care about her and even regrets the days when her mother was constantly on her back watching and scolding her. As for the mother, the pain of seeing her daughter leave and risk being unhappy, adding to the guilt, pushes her to be more calm, silent and conciliatory. Is that it?
You finally see why Wang Lin act the way she does. What mom tell their daughter to act arrogantly outside because…
I completely agree. I hate when the karma for women is to be raped or married to perverts. It's disgusting, despicable and absolutely not a fair punishment but outright torture. I don't wish that on my worst enemy.
That was really funny. I was only kind of bothered when she complained about Wang Ling. I mean the girl is a troll…
Wang Lin is getting worse and worse. She even tarnished CSS's reputation twice by implying she had inappropriate relationships with men and was a seductress.. At that time, a woman's reputation was everything. To be sure not to be bothered anymore, CSS could only turn to the emperor to let him know what she was going through and make her rival understand she shouldn't bother her anymore.
CSS at the beginning of Ep26: "In this world, not everything must have a reason. Just like how you proposed to me with no cause. For what reason?" CSS at the ending of Ep26: "General Ling, you always make your decision alone without discussing it with other people. You don't need to apologize for that."
I love seeing her throwing spades at LBY showing she doesn't appreciate he decided to marry her without consulting her and that she still resents him.
At the beginning of episode 25 when LBY talks about CSS to the survivor of the Huo clan, he says:Wetv: "The person…
I've often been told Viki is more accurate, but I've noticed, at least for Love Like the Galaxy, that's not really the case. There were several times where WeTv translation made more sense. In this scene, it doesn't make sense for LBY to say CSS is stuck in the past like him (she's traumatized by the past but focused on the present and the future). And he doesn't really know all her past suffering. It makes more sense he's talking about himself, focused on his revenge, thinking he'll never find love until he meets her.

Thank you for the link! I also thought the translation of WeTv made more sense because even though CSS is still traumatized by the past she is focused on the present and the future unlike LBY. Moreover, the latter does not know how much she is traumatized even if he has an idea of her suffering.
For the 1st time i couldn't understand why CSS was angry/upset because LBY defended her or because he defended…
CSS was to marry her best friend, someone her own age with a gentle and conciliatory character, someone with whom she was very comfortable and had planned a calm and stable future life. But she lost that and suddenly LBY forces her to marry him (the marriage proposal with the support of the emperor was a pressure and left her no choice). He's a cold, bloody general who doesn't speak much and whom she doesn't know well. He is older, experienced, dominant and very powerful (being the emperor's adopted son whom the latter favors more than his biological sons). Now she is dragged into a relationship and a marriage in which she has no control, she who is terrified of the lack of control. She doesn't understand LBY, doesn't really know why he wants to marry her (even though he said he finds her amazing, she doesn't trust him enough to be sure of that) and feels her life is slipping away from her. LBY seems to make all the decisions for her (forcing her to marry him, forcing her to go to her ex-fiancé's wedding, preventing her from eating her bread...). We see her fearing losing her identity by becoming his wife, fearing living according to his rules, fearing being only the mother of his children & his wife-object and fearing becoming a prisoner of her own life. She's mad at him for pushing her into this without asking her opinion and for forcing all of this on her. CSS is also frustrated that her life is slipping away from her and at the same time somewhat resigned, broken and fatalistic about her destiny.
She is a 15-year-old child, abused and mistreated all her life, having never really known a love who now passes from one jailer to another without knowing what the future holds for her. It is normal she does not react well.
Quick translation question for those who understand Chinese.
At the beginning of episode 25 when LBY talks about CSS to the survivor of the Huo clan, he says: Wetv: "The person like me who's trapped in the past should have been alone." Viki: "She is trapped in the past. Like me." Which translation is correct? Because each translation is very different (and this is not the first time I notice huge differences between Viki and WeTV).
So hard to wait for the english translation on Viki ! I could own the VIP pass on WeTV but there is no french…
French people here too x) Viki generally translates the first episode aired the same day (but we have to wait until the night to get it) and the 2nd the next day. It's a little frustrating but apparently they don't have the episode in advance and therefore can't prepare the subtitles, unlike WeTV.
I'm a bit confused about LBY story, his mother's family was killed when he was with her and when they came back…
That's it. He was in a town with the whole Huo clan and the town was massacred, only he and his mother survived. They took a year to return and, in the meantime, having no news about his wife, the father had remarried with a cousin of his who lived with them. When she returned, since the cousin had the support of Princess Yuchang's grandmother and the mother had gone mad, she could not regain her place as a wife. LBY was raised by the Emperor and given all of his mother's clan titles as well as his own mansion (as he wanted nothing to do with his father). That's the official version. There is a secret but you will find out later, unless you want to know now.
I loved these two episodes even if they seemed way too short to me.
I appreciate I wasn't mistaken in my interpretation of episode 24: CSS accepted out of obligation and, if she had really had a choice, she would have refused.
I'm also glad not to see her docilely resigned to her fate. But I was heartbroken to see CSS in this situation. I felt her overwhelmed, aparently resigned, suffocated by a dominant & powerful fiancé whom she doesn't know and saddened by the situation. Hats off to the actress for successfully conveying this through her look or the tone of her voice.
I'm glad the script is so smart and psychological with CSS. The scene where she makes LBY see her anger, frustration, resignation and outrage at the power imbalance between them and the choice he made to marry her was perfect. An argument too direct would not have been in accordance with their current relationship and the fact a part of her fears him. I really found this scene to be both subtle and fair. We clearly perceive two young people whose destinies will soon be linked but who remain strangers and are not yet synchronized. LBY speaks softly and tries to strike up a conversation with the girl he loves to understand her state of mind but he also has a long way to go to learn how to be in a relationship and respect his wife. As for CSS, she is faced with an imposed fiancé, older, more experienced, a cold and bloody soldier who has almost the status and power of a prince. She finds herself reduced to silence, moping while unable to hide her pain, anger and resentment. I can't wait to see them talk a little more heart to heart. LBY needs to soften her heart and reassure her about their future so that she can finally relax and start planning for their future life. Because it broke my heart to hear this 15-year-old talk about bearing his kids, living by his rules and not being who she is anymore.
I think we will see the episodes continue tomorrow as wet as realeased trailer for ep 28
I would have rather thought episode 28 would air next Tuesday. After all, the trailers we get each week are for the following week. But this is already good news.
Just finished Ep20 last night. To be honest, I am quite annoyed with CSS. All up till Ep 20, I love her and understand…
I understand your feeling. However, let's not forget CSS had to sacrifize her reputation and future. Even if she didn't suffer HZJ's lost, CSS is an abuse kid who was almost starve to death and only have one happiness in her life : Lou Yao who is completly devoted to her and wanted the same future than her. She'll have to lost her only partner (it's maybe not romantic love but she really loves him), her chance to have the life she wants and to get away from a family who abuse her. She has every right to cry. It's her life who is at stake here. She's the one who has to pay for a tragedy in which she has no part.
How closely this one is following the novel ? I read a big descriptive spoiler about how things went in the novel…
I only read excerpts from the novel but I saw interviews with the cast explaining they had respected the main events of the story. And people who read the novel said it was pretty faithful with just small changes in personnality, context and so on.
