This is such a special drama. A sweet, heartwarming story of friendship and love. Uncomplicated story of youth with little to no angst but still manages to tug at the heart strings. I'll remember this one for a while.
Is there in break ups? (I don’t care about spoilers!$
Kind of but not really - there's a miscommunication that leads to misunderstanding, and it lasts for say 8 episodes (I think eps 27 - 35). It was an unspoken "break up" but neither of them ever stray from their feelings for the other during it, just some angst that resolves before the end.
I really enjoyed this drama... it wasn't perfect but it tugged at the heart and was incredibly healing. The slow burn romance was sweet and the way characters worked through through their grief was insightful. Chae Soo Bin and Jung Hae had great chemistry and gave me flutters. The OST is also amazing. A drama to remember.
Can someone explain to me if Boya remained a spirit guardian or?
I don't think so.. This is my interpretation also based on other explanations I've read - Boya used his blood and spirit to awaken the Vermillion Bird, and complete the barrier. He loses consciousness because he used himself to trigger the awakening, the VB then manifests itself as him (why? IDK maybe because a human was used and not demon sacrifices) - it is both him and the VB and Qing Ming makes Boya-VB a spiritual guardian. When Boya-VB are killed by the serpent, the summoning is undone and his spirit returns to his unconscious body, i.e. not a spirit guardian! But tbh this is pure speculation lol
Just finished this recently. LOVE. Watch it people. Great writing/plot for leads as well as compelling side stories, acting is top notch from leads all the way to minor characters, it's actually laugh out loud funny at times and it's a beautiful drama, cinematography and styling wise.
If you are put off by the ML, played by Chang Chen, please give him a chance. Yes, he's a bit older, not the traditional pretty flower boy lead. The half up hairdo that made his head look like a triangle and left him zero volume didn't help (why didn't they stick with a bun T_T) BUT he has this handsome, manly charisma that really draws you in when romance kicks off (ep 17 stick with it!) and makes for a really beautiful, mature romance. And boy can he act and combined with Nini, who is also killer, their chemistry sold this unlikely romantic pairing for me. This role was written with him in mind - God of War is stoic, removed from the normal experiences of life and he plays it beautifully as opens up and he grows from the love of FL. A must watch for xianxia fans and beats out TMOPB imo.
