I really wanted to like this because of Z1L, but unfortunately I couldn't. The film doesn't show enough of Li Xiaole, she's more of a manic pixie dream girl trope than her own character.
Y'all act like you don't know this director is full of controversy whether it's real or imaginary. If you drop…
I've belatedly linked it somewhere in the comments (wasn't sure if links are ok here, I don't comment much on MDL) and I expect people to be able to look up things on google before trusting a random comment. I also looked up the director myself before saying anything.
Yeah I usually only watch for actors/actresses or when I see nice gif sets on tumblr (I saw some for FoF and wanted to check it out, but then saw people mentioning the director). I don't watch a lot so it's disappointing to find out when something on my to watch list is unwatchable to me because of reasons...

Check Guo Jingming on Wikipedia. There is a controversy section including plagiarism (and s*xual harassment). Or google his name + plagiarism for some news articles.

I've heard of him for the first time and just googled his name + plagiarism; I was surprised he's still producing stuff without problems. But yeah, his controversy section on Wikipedia speaks for itself. I've seen multiple people saying they didn't know and would not continue watching because of this so I just put this info out here so people can make an informed choice.
I've only seen screenshots myself as I've not started FoF before hearing about the accusations. There is a thread on twitter with some info here https://x.com/fortnightruther/status/1852995357405540400 Some examples I think are similar and some aren't.
Doesn't have to be the whole drama to be plagiarism. And it's not like this would be the first time he was caught plagiarising. Took him 14 years to apologise for the first case :S
designs and plot elements from the donghua tianbao fuyao lu. people on weibo seem to be talking about it (see 天宝伏妖录 大梦归离) edward guo (guo jingming) has been caught plagiarising multiple times already.
Seeing accusations of plagiarism popping up so dropping this even before I even started... Edit: People defending this so hard when the director is known for multiple cases of plagiarism; just watch it but don't defend this like you're personally offended? Only shows people care more for entertainment than ethics smh
Only watched the Bai Yu cut... the acting is fun enough but the story is so bad hahaha A lot of situational comedy and no chemistry. And a lot of second hand embarrassment lol
Watched this for Zhu Yilong only and he looks good in it, but the message is trash because it's an ad for anti wrinkle lotion. L'Oreal is partly owned by Nestlé (somewhere between 20-30% in stocks) so maybe not the best product to buy anyway lol.
Very entertaining but this franchise can't write female characters. Might as well leave them out if the author treats them like disposable plot devices. I watched this for Z1L and the acting from the whole cast was great.
Watched this to have some background knowledge for Reunion, the pacing in some episodes is so slow... At least it's only 10 episodes, though stopping at 8 and a half episodes is also ok.
Got to watch it in movie theaters, only in German dub so I did not get to hear Z1L's voice but the acting and imagery were great. Recommended for every Z1L fan :D The story was okay, not really what I usually watch but lots of cool explosions right from the beginning. (basically a 2h commercial for chinese railway lol)
This was such a frustrating watch, most of the characters are unlikeable (the actors did a great job portraying the characters), most of the time I was just hoping for Xu Xingcheng to finally die LOL. I'm surprised that I did end up liking the couple of Duan Tianying and Luo Fusheng, I'm usually not into romance. Still, this drama is only worth watching for Zhu Yilong. The writing and directing was not good, I don't understand how it's the same director and writers as for Guardian... The ending with the present time characters was too sudden. Few good things: the show portrays cops as bad, it shows the difference between selfish obsession and selfless love well
