On My Journey to You Sep 2, 2023
The cinematics are absolutely gorgeous and I'm pausing every few seconds to take screenshots but am I the only one noticing the dubbing sound mixing is very noticeably....inconsistent in quality. Sometimes it's great, perfect, but other times it sounds like someone recorded their lines in a closet and it was just pasted on with no editing afterwards. Sometimes the quality can flipflop several times in one conversation QAQ I hope they will fix this in future episodes :(

(also some of the scene transition effects ....well.......it's giving "video editing is my passion", as a friend described it)

haha actually shan gudao doesn't exist in the novel :') xiao zijin is definitely a pain in the ass tho >:c
Yeah I mean you can kind of guess it already, Jiao Liqiao is one of them, but it also seems like they added additional mystery characters for the LA. (Basically anything that has to do with the senior brother Shan Gudao didn't exist in the book)

For anyone who already read the novel :Does they change a lot or they just keep everything the same as in the…
To add on to what BlueSky has said, some of the major changes so far include (including spoilers for later in the book):

1. The reason for LLH and DFS fighting - there was no dashixiong in the original novel, they fought purely because the 'righteous' sects and the 'demonic' sects were fighting against each other and DFS challenged him. So it seems this dashixiong was created as an excuse to make LLH actively seek out DFS so DFS gets more more screen time.
2. As an extension of this, FDB didn't know LLH in his youth, and so LLH did not take him as a disciple. They knew each other because he was one of the 'dead' people that LLH 'revived' (he pretended to die after jumping off a cliff and LLH was the one who dug him out)
3. DFS doesn't actually solve any cases with him but they do work together and help each other near the end to take down a common enemy.
4. The very first case with the dude in the coffin holding his breath and the monk who ascended and turned into a golden stature weren't in the book.
4. The actual first case in the book was the one in eps 4-5 (and spoilers for those eps:.................... in the novel it was actually the mother and father instead of sister & sister's husband, i.e. mother was sleeping with the fiance, father was sleeping with the maid). I guess they changed it to be slightly less scandalous for TV lmao
6. Near the end of the novel there is a case in the imperial city which will likely be cut out in the LA, since that is where they introduced the doggo and Yang Yunchun. Also fun fact, the reason why the dog is named 狐狸精 is because there was a 'fox spirit' ( 狐狸精) in the imperial city and LLH was pretending to exorcise it, and they found a random dog to pretend to be the 'fox spirit', and LLH basically adopted the doggo after.
7. LLH wasn't rescued and healed by anyone after the fight with DFS on the ship, he had to learn how to make money and take care of himself all alone while injured and healing. This was actually a pretty big part for his character development and process of learning how to grow up (i.e. how he realized that the things that once mattered so much to him as a youth really weren't as important in the long term in the real world)

....and I might be missing some things but that's the most important changes so far I think. Honestly I'm not complaining about them giving DFS much more bros screentime ;)

To novel reader: li xiang yi will recover and regain his power or not?
No he doesn't, it only gets worse especially when he has to use his abilities to heal other people and use up more of his reserves. The whole point is to show the inevitability of growing old and illness, there is no magical cure in real life. Spoiler for end of book:

In the book, the illness causes him to slowly go blind and have hallucinations, so in the end he's blind and can't recognise the people around him, but even then FDB and DFS stay by his side QAQ

she didn't betray him, they all just thought he died, so she (kinda) moves on and marries his old best friend. honestly I feel bad for her because while they were fiances and everyone thought they were like the #1 perfect couple, it's kinda implied that he wasn't really that affectionate with her in private and was sometimes kinda cold to her, like commanding an underling in their fight against the 'bad guys' as opposed to a romantic partner.
