I'm so pleased that NTV consulted the mangaka on how to end the drama, since the manga is still ongoing. I like…
That's a common practice for Japanese drama/movie adaptations from manga/novels. The scripts are usually co-written or signed off first by mangaka/author.
I am so satisfied with how they merged the soul of the manga and incorporated different elements to actually create better scenarios in the drama. Though currently in the manga, the drama revelations are yet to take place (and NTV took great pains to consult mangaka Ando Natsumi on how to go about the last episode), I hope at the very least, they give us a special episode. Heck, the official photobook is SOLD OUT everywhere. Its ratings went up towards the end but most Japanese viewers watched thru official streaming sites like TVer and Hulu and it was trending on top of Japanese twitter. I hope NTV takes the online clamor and decide to give us another special episode in the future.
But for me, I'll continue reading the manga because they are now at the point where Nao and Tsubaki are both living together in Kougetsu An.
The chemistry of the main leads and Japanese aesthetic of the wagashi and the kimonos are just too good for the eyes and the heart. And really, Hamabe Minami is bound to be a great Japanese actress in the years to come. Her eyes DO act.
As someone who has been practicing Kakeibo for almost a year now, I am so happy a Jdrama finally discusses a topic so often ignored like money management. I'm into personal finance and investments right now so I'm really digging this drama.
I don't know if people know this but the official English versions of the manga source of this drama are now partly available. Penguin Random House is the publisher and so far they have released the first two volumes in paperback and Kindle version on Amazon, Barns and Noble and other sites. They have also opened the preorders for volumes 3-7 which are slated to be released for the rest of 2020 and 2021. Here's the link for more info and online shops where you can legally support Watashitachi wa Douka Shiteiru or Something's Wrong with Us
I read the whole volumes in Japanese until 13th and Natsumi Ando-sensei never said that was the last volume. It is still serialized at the BELOVE monthly shojo manga magazines as of this month. They are already at Chapter 62. Volume 13 was only until Chapter 61.
It might be the last bed scene but not the last kissing scene. I think we will go as far as the Kougetsu An fire…
Yeah. It's a spinoff drama for Okami-san or Tsubaki's mom. I dunno if we can even watch that because it's so hard to get raws from Hulu Japan. I'll probably just wait for the official DVD/BD which will mostly likely be released on March 2021
It might be the last bed scene but not the last kissing scene. I think we will go as far as the Kougetsu An fire…
Not by chapter because episode 2 covered until Chapter 10 but more on tankobon/volume basis which means ep2 finished volumes 2 out of the current 13 so far.

Well this is gonna be the last kissing/bed scene if according to the episodes
It might be the last bed scene but not the last kissing scene. I think we will go as far as the Kougetsu An fire at this pace. They already finished volume 2 with this episode.
Followed the manga religiously. NTV surprised me with the ending scene because that is really rare for a golden time jdrama but as a manga reader I am satisfied with episode 2. Can't wait for episode 3.
Did you find the english translation or did you read it raw?
I read them raw. But there are available fan scanlated ones up to the 5th volume. Kodansha here has the first scanlated volume for free. The second one is available in Google Play/Amazon. The official translated third volume will be out on Sept 20
Everything's on the official drama website but then he's not yet introduced as Tsubaki's brother because the back story has yet to unfold in the drama.
Tsubaki's brother is there, he is casted up in the drama but his full character history is not revealed yet. Ir was on the recent volume released last August 12 but I won't tell because that's a HUGE spoiler
Even in the very current volume, it is not yet clear what happened to Itsuki-sama. Was he killed or what? Ando-sensei kept that hanging all along.
But I hope they change the plot for the drama just like what TBS did with Hanadan, cause there are really some stuff there that are not for TV, tbh. But I want the who-will-inherit Kougetsu An challenge to happen ugh
There's also this huge revelation about Takigawa Kaoru, that guy who gave Nao her Mom's letter and Tsubaki's parents. But yeah, they are still not together in the manga even 3 years after the fire

Infidelity is a huge theme/plot device of this manga fyi
