the dubbing of this show indeed ruins a lot of my enthusiasm, not only for the lead but the supporting roles also have terrible dubbing. Seem like they change some dialogue because it doesn't match sometimes.

Ying also refer to England , that's why Mango subs has its infamous KIng of England lol
- her name 永安 / Yong An
永 (yong) means forever - 安 (an) means peaceful, calm

So I don't know why she is refer as Princess of Valor :D, but I don't think they need to translate her name, just keep Princess Yong An or King Ying, it's much more simple

Yeah, I think so, there are so many mysteries like ML's family tragic story, or how the emperor and the crown prince died suddenly together ( smell something fishy here ) , how all these cases connect to each other ... I get why some pp feel that the story is a little bit all over the place, but first 6-8 eps of C drama usually just to introduce the characters. Here, there are so many characters with different with different force and unclear motivation, so be patience and just keep watching. I believe the story will unfold later.
1st rule even for Chinese watcher is u need to remember character's name and face first, Lmao !

I don't find anything confusing to the point that I don't understand about the story . I don't need subtitle, but may be some scenes was cut out and switched too fast ??? Personally I would rather have that than a long boring conversation that make me fall to sleep.
I think people are confusing because of the politic context of this drama with all the side, title and their relationship, motivation ... but u will understand more about it later.

Princess Yongan became King Ying , Prince Xiaozhong became King Xian. With the curernt emperor's father aka the "passed away" crown prince, they are siblings. But both previous emperor and the crown prince died suddenly, so the grandson became the emperor when he was just an infant. And people start to take side and fight for their own power.
So the princess and the prince, or King Ying and King Xian, basically are the emperor's aunt and uncle.
The old lady does not have the Empress Dowager title, she is emperor's grand mother. She is also mother of King Ying and King Xian. Her title is 太皇太后 which is the Grand Empress Dowager. While the Empress Dowager ( who may appear later ) is the emperor's mother. The translation is not good.
Princess Yong An, title as Ying Wang or King Ying ( I think they should keep translate her as princess Yongan or King Ying instead of translate her name into it something else, you don't have to translate the meaning of Chinese people's name, it's really weird. I'm surprise that she was granted the title as KIng, but it's a fiction drama so I guess that's fine )
