those are not the surname, their surname is Qilin as they belong to Qilin clan. But royal don't use the full name, only when they say things really formal like introdution in a grand meeting, then they will say things like "prince ChuKong of Qilin clan".
Later in the drama you will see other pp who are not royal, then they have name with surname like Jin Cheng, Jin Lian, Jin Luo.
