In the book, the bow scene appear later than in the drama. XL wants to teach XY archery so she can protect herself. He commisioned someone to make a bow but the bow is made by precious material and need decades to make ( ep 13) , so XL prepare it ahead 30 years. But she never knows Xiang Liu put much effort and spent more than 30 years to make that bow for her ( broken heart n1 )
From another comment I read from weibo : Even later, XL doesn't give the bow to her by himself. It was sold to Xiaoyao by someone, saying that they didn't want it ( broken heart n2 )
But my only question is why archery and not something else ? Someone told me in the comment below that bcs she needs it to against FF Yiyang, who is a good archer. So earlier bow scenes make me feel like XL is a prophet lol
