In ep 1, the original ML in Joseon times died of what we later find out is poisoning. He was alive in the last episode because the FL was sent back before he dies. Also I may be wrong but she didn’t marry the Joseon ML at the end because she loved the modern day ML.
Ater Joseon ML died, the FL’s “leap of faith” in the last episode… she didn’t know she’d be brought back to the modern day ML.
So Joseon ML died twice - ah time travel…
It was a good entertaining story. If you think too much, it can take away from the entertainment value… just my opinion.

He has make it fairly clear that is not an option. Although, I’ve noticed that many a great many KDramas don’t have “the good characters” set clear and confident boundaries to those that try to control them.
I guess if they did the series would be pretty short?!?
