This is so incredibly sexist. You're saying it's fine to like male characters who may or may not be written well…
Look, I already called this a dead point and I really don't see this post as a critique on writing. It's fine if you did, but I did not.
And I'm not naive despite what you seem to think. It's not naive to want people to critique male characters and criticize the sexist writing that can happen on shows, rather than feeding into the sexism the writers can perpetuate. Maybe it's idealistic, yes, but naive, no. It's actually fairly demeaning of you to think viewers cannot look critically at what they watch and notice it's problematic aspects and discuss it in a civil and thoughtful manner. Maybe that's something you don't see people doing, but it's not impossible or outside of their intelligence to do so.

Obviously neither of us are going to see the points of the other so I'm going to call this a moot point. But I do hope in the future you can grow to view male characters more critically and take into account that they can also be "annoying" too.

If the point you were really trying to make was that you didn't like these characters because they aren't "independent strong women" then you shouldn't have started this post by talking about how easily you can like male leads regardless of substance. You pretty much sabotaged the point you say you were trying to make. You make it seem like females are just SO unlikable unless they fit this very tiny specific mold you have set in your head for them, but men you can like just because they're nice to look at. How does that help your argument that these women are poorly written? (It doesn't.)
The point you ended up making with this article was more "these women are annoying and people shouldn't love them because they have traits I find unbecoming on a female" not "i hate these characters because they depend so much on the male lead."

Firstly, I think you've missed the point of my comment and secondly, that is not how the majority of this world watches shows. Attraction means nothing when it comes to actually liking a character. It has more to do with how that character is written and acted that makes me people like them. Yes, physical looks does factor in, it can make you initially "like" a character, but attraction isn't a very sure thing when it comes to liking a character. That has more to do with the characterization and acting.
I think you need to look more critically at how you like characters in dramas and stop blindly loving male leads because they're "hot" and think about whether they're a well written/acted and developed character or not. And also stop hating on female leads who aren't just subordinate to your precious male leads, but actually independent people with their own desires and personalities.
This is so incredibly sexist. You're saying it's fine to like male characters who may or may not be written well as long as they look nice and act well, but female characters have to be perfectly written characters with amazing looks to be liked? That's a load of crap. Granted I have only seen one of these dramas so yes, these characters /could/ be annoying and boring as you say, but it seems more like you're just unhappy that these women aren't submissive to their male counterparts and 100% happy all the time. (In real life, women are typically independent and subject to have moods other than happiness FYI.)
And as for Dok Mi, she was a character suffering from severe anxiety and depression, when you are that way it's not easy to just be happy. It's very hard actually. You don't instantly become happy and cheerful, it's a gradual process. I'm sorry her transformation bored you.
