Not your typical fantacy series
I usually am not a fan of fantacy series because of too many visual effects and unrealistic background sets, but this one was different. The visual effects were kept to a minimum required, and there was not too much of water and fire flying in the air and unrealistic colors and things like that :))the story was interesting and the acting was very good too. The ending was satisfying for those who like triumph of good against evil type of stories.

before getting to the film itselt,I want to say something. Before this film premiered, I had heard Zhao Luci had to lose a lot of weight for her role in this fil,m, which after watching it, I really don't understand why! she looked very malnurished, with no life in her eyes. I don't understand why actresses are forced into these stupid unhealthy bodystandards by the filmmakers or their agencies.Now let's go to the good and bad points of the film:
The story on the first half had the potential of being good. The acting of some of the cast was very good too. Zhao Luci didn't dissappoint as always. She played such a different role very well. I also like the acting of some other casts like the little brother/son of the ML, the mother in law.
But the male lead ...? he's a good actor but I don't know why in this drama his acting felt forced and unnatural.
and the script/story! it felt like the first and second half were written by two different people who decided not to consult each other! The genre suddenly changed. The comedy in the second half, felt forced and unnecessary. And the male lead character was ... well hard to sympathize with. to the point that, I honestly would have liked it better if the FL wouldn't go back to him.
I'm usually the type that can rewatch the films I enjoyed and even liked a little. But I would definitly NOT rewatch this one.

a therapeutic beautiful drama
the pace, the scenery, story, acting, everything was ideal! it takes you from the fast lifetempo of big cities, to a beautiful slow relaxing life in the village. there are good friendship scenses for those value strong friendships and a good love story for those interested in romance. but the story didn't revolve around romance, but around life itself!and I have to just say: I don't know where they found so many cute little actors! the children were adorable and really good at acting! and where did such a cute funny grandma come from?! I loved her!!
the music is also beautiful and calming (except for very few romantic scenes towards the end, when the two main leads finally get together, I think the music could have been better but still isn't bad)

Worth the watch
this comment doesn't have direct spoilers, no worries, but still you can choose to skip it if you'd like the story to be a complete surprise.The story was engaging from start to the end. I like the fact that both ML and FL were strong and smart and helped each other in different situations, rather than the usual one sided theme of ML saving FL lead all the time in some other dramas. Also the fact that regardless of the difficulties in their lives, the two leads never lost their principles.
The romance was nicely portrated as well. slowly growing, from enemies to lovers with a good mutual understanding without any cliche break ups.

you won't regret watching it
I've watched many wuxia so far. I've watched some episodes of other versions of this novel as film series too. This one is the best! best among all the wuxia and best among all the versions of this story. The story is deep, the acting is amazing too. even though it is old, watch it! you won't regret it!Was this review helpful to you?
A comment about the music
there are enough comments about the stroy and acting but ...what was with the music? for example in the funeral scene in the last episode! it suddenly took me from ancient china to a modern disco . I mean... I know music with beats and some newer styles are the trend but that doesn't mean it fits every movie or scene!!!
it completely ruined the mood.

Strong!
the story was interesting and meaningful. The acting was very good. I liked the strength and simplicity of the FL character. She was smart and no matter the set backs she overcame the obstacles. I also enjoyed the ML step by step becoming more capable. They mutually helped each other, there was no one sided help or protection of the ML which was satisfying. I cried and laughed at different stages. I recommend watching it if you like to see the lead characters' self improvement. The Romance was also well carried out.Was this review helpful to you?
I don't regret watching it
I'm not saying the story line and the script couldn't be better, it had space for improvement. but overall it was worth the watch. Specially the fight scene choreography was very good. I choose to watch wuxia due to its strong leads and martial art scenes and deep sayings of ancient chinese literature that they add in here and there. Although this one lacked the latter and due to some cutting, some parts felt rushed like the last episode battle, the fight scences were good. I enjoyed watching it. I don't enjoy overexagerrated and too unrealistic fight scenes with breathing fire and water and stuff in the fantacy genres :))).Was this review helpful to you?
Beautiful drama
it was beautiful. usually short dramas aren't very good, but this one was different. the casting though except for the leads, was so so. The female lead was very good. I loved the female lead, she played the role beautifully. the young girl Le Le's acting was good too. the story felt very real. even though a bit sad, the sadness was shown beautifully not dark in some movies. I liked the ending.For a mini Drama, was worth watching.

Worth to watch
a good wuxia series with a strong female lead. the storyline was good and the actors were good too. the scenery and clothing was beautiful as expected of wuxia films. I usually look for wuxia films that are motivational when it comes to learning martial arts and this one did the job ;)so I think it is worth to watch
