Historical with modern values...that's only possible if the fl or ml time travelled and it's a sitcom. A proper period drama would never have that or else it would be bashed by Chinese viewers.

Actually, the drama already made the fl more older, she already passed her coming of age before she married. In the novel. her coming of age was about 2 years after marriage. Plus, they never consummated the marriage. The ml waited until she was much older.

I get you, but this is a period drama. That's how they were taught and that's how society operated. They even had to read these books about serving husband and son, how girls not knowledgeable is a virtue etc. Putting 21st century thoughts won't help and it will deter you from enjoying a period drama.

Watched up to ep 5 (not subbed), so far it's pretty good. I like that the fl isn't a dimwitt, has high IQ and decent EQ. I love watching Seven Tan cry. Her crying just gets to me.

Typically after it airs since they can see whether the drama is a hype/success or not. So this means other countries have faith and great expectations for this drama and the main leads

Well to be fair, Tencent never officially released the eng name until yesterday when they released the trailer and airing date. Brocade jade of heart and any other names of the drama were just a straight translation from the chinese title. It was all rumoured speculations of the airing date so i didnt dare believe it until it was officially released

Actually no, Wallace's character has multiple concubines and children already before Seven's character marries him. His main wife, who died, insisted he married one of her sisters to take care of their young son. It's a story about love after marriage.

Seven plays China's first female feminist/activist. It's a biodrama and her costar is a singer. An older male, age 42. Irrelevant to Steven. I prefer them not to be in the same drama.you can look forward to Seven's new drama airing feb 26 called Sword and the Brocade
