I also had a very traumatic past of abuse, bullying and lost my parents. Did I turn into a psychopathic manipulator…
i'm not trying to control? discourse is fun! just as much as i am trying to defend her, you are doubling down on your dislike of her and that's fine. i was moreso trying to understand why people are only hating on her. it feels hypocritical, that's all.
What you say are just excuses. Being a jerk or someone using their "premonition" power is far from being adequately…
agree to disagree. sure, the jerk thing might not be comparable, but using powers to constantly win the lottery/get rich is conniving and deceitful as well. how is it not?
I also had a very traumatic past of abuse, bullying and lost my parents. Did I turn into a psychopathic manipulator…
no doubt, but please keep that energy with the other members of the family. like i said, why single da hae out? her "mom" is very controlling as we have seen, so this way of life (conning) seems like the only choice she's had. she's had no way out. that's so sad and how could you not feel bad for her? also, she is not psychopathic and you should never throw that word around freely.
do da hae was bullied mercilessly as a child and was LOCKED IN A FREAKING ROOM and was not able to escape when a fire broke out at her school, leaving her with lifelong ptsd (even i felt anxious watching that scene). not one but BOTH of her parents died AND she's only conning because she was taken in by this strange con-woman who literally forced her to do it.
i feel like people are picking and choosing who to like and dislike here. if we want to do this, i could easily say things about the family as well. the mom used her power to gain immense wealth (that's messed up and not a moral way to do that, like at all). gwi joo is a jerk to everyone and is not very likeable (also spends no time with his daughter wtf). they are no better than do da hae so im really confused about why people are singling her out.
(btw, if you like the show and want to actually converse/theorize about it, i recommend going over to its threads on r*ddit)
I guess the main issue here is people trying to sugarcoat the criminals acts of FL & cia. I mean, I personally…
define "sugarcoat". no one is trying to excuse what she is doing. it's messed up, yes, you are correct, you are right, congratulations. doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the show. if you find what she is doing so bothersome and not worthy of your viewing time, you can drop it and find something else to watch?
i think i liked the second episode more than the first!
(sidenote: KIHO FROM CASTAWAY DIVA WHATARE U DOING HERE??)
i'm not gonna comment on the morality olympics discourse going on below (lmao), but i will say that i love the vibe of this show! it's very outlandish and weird, but i like it?
the thing i'm most curious about is the daughter. there's something going on with her and i can't quite put my finger on it, but i'm excited to learn more about her.
I'm interested to see where the go with it and if they work it into an actual storyline rather than have her be…
Oh yes, I agree π the fat suit is so distracting and I hate when it's used as a gag which it does seem to be here, but like you said, I'm hoping a genuine conversation around body image and disordered eating comes out as the episodes progress.
I wanted to comment on the fatphobia aspect a bit, as a person who is a bit overweight herself. As fatphobic as South Korea seems to be, and it feels a bit too early to assume this, I didn't take the portrayal of Dong Hee as their way of saying "hey you fatties, stop being fat π‘". Rather, it seems like the struggles with food and an unhealthy relationship with food is being commented on, because based on the synopsis she will also suffer through bulimia.
That does not excuse the terrible things that her brother said to her (he was horrible for saying she will never lose weight) but the point, I think, was to show how much of a struggle it is to be fat and how much of a struggle it is to lose weight when you are being judged for it constantly. For me, at least, that was portrayed well in episode one.
I am also extremely curious about Ina and her powers. Can she read minds, maybe? Or is she able to teleport? I'm not sure but I'm looking forward to the next ep!
lot's of ppl worried about a love triangle but honestly i don't think there will be one. based off of the last teaser, it seems like there's some sort of childhood connection between park eun bin and chae jong hyeop's character, while her relationship with cha hakyeon will be more brother/sister vibes. so i think the romance will only happen between park eun bin and chae jong hyeop
This show is a lil depressing haha, but that's okay I like angst!! I just think the ending will be pretty tragic, I still love it for some reason though XD maybe it's the cinematography?
