Okay but how the hell can a FATHER witness his OWN SON in a state like that, and not only he just stared at him…
The King of Yongzhou is a highly suspicious man. He's at his peak of ruling the country , so naturally if any of his child shows brilliance in ruling, it becomes a threat to him. Moreover, FLX is indeed an ambitious man and Fountain Abode is indeed one of his plan to be the ruler of the six kingdoms (altho his motive is sincere towards the people)
There's two type of king, one is like King of Qingzhou who prioritizes the people so he's looking forward for his heir. And one is like King of Youngzhou and the Emperor, who loves their position and get threatened if one got too strong for their own sake, hence they can resort to anything that can weaken the threat.
Court drama sounds annoying but this really happens in real life :') tbh ruler like King of Qingzhou is a rare breed indeed
I'm very picky with dramas so I was surprised by WRTW's plot. Palace politics is my most favorite genre and so far, I really like the build up and tension in the palace.
I heard that the palace drama is not in the novel so I'm thankful to whoever wrote the arc. It has been a long time since I last watch a well-written politic since Nirvana in Fire. And the slowburn romance! Ong chef's kiss!
While I wish we can have longer court drama, I understand we need to start focusing on the FL's backstory. I hope this good writing will stay til the 40th episode 🤞 really need that good story and character development. Wishing it will become more complex soon!
Huh, I take my words back. I just watched the 4th episode and I'm pleasantly surprised how good the episode isIMO…
Spoiler: It's a shame I can't hear Sunwoo's direct confession. Since Eunsoo confessed first, I was expecting Sunwoo to say it out loud after the kiss. But he only confess through lyrics. Still good, tho! At least it fits his personality.

IMO the 3rd and the 4th episode are the best. The script is more organic and the chemistry finally kicked. I also like how Episode 3 is painful but quiet, just like Sunwoo, while the energy in Episode 4 is as chaotic as Eunsoo's personality. Sohee is so cute acting antsy and jealous towards the hoobae. I'm glad the writer didn't force the relationship. The jealousy trope is also appropriate and not overdone.
Maybe the first few episodes feel slow because there is less substance to work on. So yeah, this feels so much better if you go through them all at once.
Recommended. I give it a solid 4/5. I also want to welcome the writer to kdramaland. Some parts of the script can still be worked on, but the 3rd and 4th episode is ✨ chef's kiss ✨.
This drama is so strange. I watched the first two episodes but I feel like there's something missing. It's very weird bc I think the characters' portrayal are alright. Like Eunsoo's bubbly self is appropriately acted and not exaggerated. Sunwoo's deep pining can even reach my heart.
I don't know what went wrong. I feel like the actors aren't in the same wavelength. As if one is acting in normally-paced drama while another is in a melodrama? Smth like that.
The 3rd episode is much better tho. The two friends feels more connected now that they are in angsty moment.
PS: the osts are not my style. But they are well-placed throughout the stories, so I guess its a good thing.
