Hi Jojo! Love your comment! I completely agree that this drama takes on a more symbolic and philosophical approach.…
Hi Jojo, 100% agree with you there. This drama is much deeper than a lot of dramas out there. It does make sense that the people leaving more negative comments and/or ratings because it involves paying close attention to every little thing since it can play a huge part in later episodes. I'm all for watching dramas that shut my mind off, but this surely isn't one of them! And I love it. I love me a good story that entices me to pay attention and not miss a single thing. Fun fact; while watching this drama, there were some parts of an episode I picked up my phone to check something and then I'd have to rewind the scene several times to see what I missed no matter how small! It came to the point where I just don't go on my phone for the whole episode LOL!

But going back to dramas, ratings, and negative comments, I feel the same. There were so many comments I've read here that just made me roll my eyes and scoff because of how one dimensional they were. Putting preferences aside, rate a drama based on the story building, story telling, character interactions, etc. Don't just say "poor writing" or "poor acting" because you don't understand. Try to use your mind a little bit. If you don't want to, this drama isn't for you, I'm sorry. It's reducing the rating of this glorious drama because they simply don't want to get super involved in the story of this show which is unfortunate since it is a wonderful story so far! And yesss to it being at the table with Goblin and HDL! I loved those two dramas (watched both twice LOL!). Highly waiting to watch tonight's episode. I cry because I have a few other things to do first :'( But I'll get to it!

I added this drama to my watchlist only because of the Breaking down OST.Is this a good watch ?Any ideas ?Well…
Hi Conservative_Torch! I shared a comment a little further down with my opinion of the drama. I hope you can check it out to see whether you are willing to give it a chance or not. Long story short, I think you should give this drama a chance as it is very thought provoking in my opinion. I say keep an open mind when watching and have some patience. Each episode provides new information that adds to the beauty of this drama. While this drama isn't for everyone, I would encourage you to watch the first few episodes and see if it's your cup of tea :)

Enjoy!

I guess everyone is on the same page about the second leads story. Let's have hope for the writer tho. I think…
Hi Jojo! Love your comment! I completely agree that this drama takes on a more symbolic and philosophical approach. Even SIG and PBY in some interviews mentioned how it was hard to act a bit because the lines had to be translated due to them being written outside a style people speak in. If we pay attention, a lot of the quotes in this show are thought provoking and the actions of some characters are ambiguous where we don't know what their agenda is (e.g. the deity). But I'm excited to find out!

As for the second leads, I completely agree. At first, I really didn't care for them on screen. I felt they took out from the magic of the story that is Doom, but after yesterday's episode, I noticed a few repetitive things said and/or done between the three that happened between MM and TDK...it further emphasized a theory I read about the show's possible ending which would be such a huge twist tbh.

Anyway, 100% with you on this show not being for everyone and that there are plenty other dramas for them to move on to if they want to drop. But in my honest opinion, this one is becoming a top tier drama. We'll see how it progresses though!

Hi Jojo! Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you agree haha. I'm hoping it'll help others who are hesitant due to the other comments. I tried to be as unbiased as possible lol.

Hi Sarang! I'm glad my comment is giving you the boost to try watching till the end! It does seem a bit slow right now, but I think it is necessary for what is coming ahead. My suggestion is to take all the episodes in, no matter how uneventful they are, because it might provide substance for upcoming episodes :)

It's my third drama with him as the male lead I think, and while I haven't had a chance to finish the other two yet, this one I'm bulldozing through full speed ahead because of how intriguing the whole story is. The big name actors are just the bonus to the actual show imo lol. And that's great! This is definitely becoming an all time favorite for me as well. I've been looking forward to this drama and it's not disappointing me one bit!

I did notice LOL! And yesss! I love shows that have meanings to them. The stories I find myself drawn to are stories that have meaning behind them. A lesson to be learned. That's probably why I have such a connection to DAYS. It's very intricate and the pieces being added each episode is slowly showing us more of how Doom and the deity work. What their roles are. How they affect humanity. It's all so beautiful and I can't wait to see how it ties up!

As for Doom himself, HE'S SUCH A CUTIE! Gosh dang, I don't think anyone except Seo In Guk can play him. SIG is literally KILLING it! Doom is not only soooo cute, but he's so sweet, thoughtful, attentive, curious, etc. Seeing him growing makes my heart swell!

I really hope this a drama for many to remember in a good way! It definitely is becoming one for me.

I literally love your comment! I agree with everything! Especially being team Team Leader lol! While he's still debatable because of his past actions, he's definitely much better than the cafe owner who seems lowkey toxic, ngl...

As for Doom himself, I agree. He was so alone all this time and really only saw himself as someone no one could stand to be around. Then in comes TDK throwing all that away with her genuineness and love.

I think they have this undeniable chemistry with each other, and those who say the relationship is happening too fast, I disagree. We need to look at it at a deeper level compared to what is shown in other dramas. They have an individual charm that draws the other in and the way SIG and PBY embrace these characters and bring them to life literally makes it all the more believable. If mutual understanding, trust, respect, and love is found between both parties, why waste time getting time together? Why play a chasing and guessing game? Go and take the leap!

So far, in the past couple of episodes, Doom has literally been stealing my heart, and during today's episode, I literally teared up from how THOUGHTFUL he is! Like shoot! I want a Doom :'(
But overall, I'm so excited to see what other lessons they teach us. I am sooo curious which turn it'll take. Either way, I'm expecting heartbreak at some point.

Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you agree :) While a lot of the comments are still praising the drama, I feel (like you said) the amount of negative comments mixed in steal the euphoria of what we feel after an episode. This show has it's own problems, don't get me wrong, but I do have to say there is more good than bad so far! It's such an interesting storyline and storytelling that it deserves all the praise it can get! But again, it's not for everyone haha.

I see a lot of negative comments here in the comments section about how this drama is turning out. Whether it’s bashing the leads individually or romantically, or whether it’s bashing the storyline in general, I want to offer up some words to incoming people who are using this section as reference of whether they should watch the show or not.

Let me quickly add that I'll be sharing my thoughts on this drama as unbiased as possible. I also want to mention that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and no opinion is wrong, however, before I say whether you should take a chance on this drama or not, bear these few things in mind (no spoilers):

This show is thought provoking to say the least. It most certainly isn’t like any other drama I’ve seen before (and I’ve seen a lot), though there are quite a few similarities and "vibes" presented in DAYS that resemble other dramas in the past (e.g "Goblin" or "Tale of the Nine-Tailed, etc). However, it is not turning out to be a "copy cat".

The overall concept, story building, character introduction and break down, even the dialogue or inner thought process of our characters…all of it is new and exciting. I believe you need to have an open mind when watching this show because the phrases spoken, the actions of our main characters, even a subtle look or tilt of their heads indicates their hidden thoughts and feelings.

Sometimes they talk in roundabout ways where you might feel confused or frustrated because you don’t understand, but the more the story develops and the further we go, the more it makes sense, and you start to see the reason behind certain things and characters. Each new revelation incites a new theory of how the story will progress or conclude.
I also want to add that in a lot of dramas, we almost always have a villain. But in DAYS? There isn’t. The villain, if I were to pick, is the “fate” which befalls our characters and how it affects them individually as well as a group. But even so, it makes sense and just shows how realistic specific circumstances can be despite the fantasy element.

If there is one thing I would say I don’t like or understand about this drama right now, it’s the storyline of our three other main characters (outside of Myeol Mang and TDK). I don’t know how the editor, writer, and the café owner are involved in this overall storyline as they don’t seem to be super involved in our main leads’ story. It kind of throws off the balance of the show in my opinion, but apparently they will have a deeper role soon? I don’t know but I hope so because right now, it just seems so random. I have read some interesting and plausible theories about their role though. Read the “Predictions on the Ending?” by Dani in the “Recent Discussions” section here on MDL. There are amazing theories going on for the story in general, but to avoid spoilers, I suggest you start watching first.

But other than that, I really have no problems with this show and eagerly look forward to the weekly episode releases. There is no set-in-stone ending, and I wouldn’t say it’s predictable (not to me anyway), because there is always something new being unraveled and we don’t have all the foundations set, character-wise or overall story-wise yet.

So, with these words in mind, I would suggest trying out the first few episodes to see how you like it. This show isn’t for everyone, but I can certainly say it’s a beautiful work of art in practically every aspect so far. The deeper you go, the more you learn; the more you learn, the more you feel; the more you feel, the more special it gets. These are my final thoughts.

Enjoy!

I can't get over this latest episode! The aesthetics! The music! The dialogue! The freaking ending of the episode!! I nearly burst into tears when MM told her to love him like no human ever did before. These two deserve all the world but I'm bracing myself for heartache :'(

They don't want to fall in love with each other. At least he doesn't want to love or care about her. At this point…
I know. The poor thing! And ooo. I try to stay away from sad stuff so I'm pretty picky about my anime and kdramas lol.

As for her brother, he lowkey pissed me off in the fourth episode. Even if she wasn't on the verge of dying, pretending something was severely wrong with him to mess with her to get money was a jacked up move, especially considering their past. I literally wanted to beat him. But I'm glad he found out about her condition. Maybe now he'll realize that his sister isn't there forever and he needs to grow up.

But I do have to argue that final comment of yours about having a happy ending. While yes these characters have unfortunate lives, isn't life like that? I feel like, depending on how it goes, it can be a very bittersweet ending. I don't know why, but I kind of want them to have a more tragic ending considering the theme of this drama. While I'm a huge sucker for happy endings, I feel like they would have to REALLY work magic to make it work. Otherwise, it'll be a halfa**ed ending and ruin the magic of the show. But that's just me lol.

I loved the episode, as usual, though I have to say it was a bit weak maybe (?) compared to the first three episodes.…
This is true, I'll admit. Falling in love may take but a moment but how can someone fall in love with the person who is willing to let them die? Surely I wouldn't lol! But I agree. The MLs trying the school, college, and reverse driving scenarios were HILARIOUS! I was dying of laughter because it do be like that sometimes xD But I am suuuuper curious how the writers will have them start supporting and actually loving each other. I think we've been getting small glimpses of that with her walking to him and bringing the dead things to life (plus the hand hold before he ended the dream) as well as her jumping in front of him to save him from the knife. Also, Doom killed the murderer probably because he could have hurt/killed TDK? Just an assumption. Obviously MM has feelings for her that surpasses the hate he has for humans in general. I won't say he likes her, but he is curious and interested to a certain extent. He's just fighting with himself about the situation he's in since he's never experienced it before as far as I'm concerned, hence the continual back and forth between his adorable and sassy side to the cold hearted Doom he is supposed to be.

As for the side characters, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way! I get lowkey bored when it's just them on screen. I'm sure they'll somehow play into the main story but I don't have much of an attachment to them. I'm always looking forward to the leads and feel the story would be just fine with them and her brother tbh. The short screen times he has anyway lol.

That is a hard fact! And poor girl does! Living what, a fairly mundane life for the most part for thirty years or so and now all of this with Doom himself next to her? Talk about excitement towards the end of her life lol!

I don't see any problem with story or plot? What puzzle are you talking about? Is there something that's confusing…
I kind of agree with you on this. At least, in this fourth episode. The first three went above and beyond imo. For this latest episode, maybe it was the amount of things going on at once we didn't have time to fully process or follow along with one thing before the next thing blew up? It's like we took a step forward then three steps back, but idk. Still loved it though, don't get me wrong! I also found myself a bit bored watching the side characters and wondered when we'll see our main leads again lol. There are also a lot of puzzle pieces to be put together, but I do agree with Yukari about this being only the fourth episode so there is plenty of time for everything to come together and smooth out so that's not bothering me either. It wouldn't be fun if we had the ball drop about all the ins and outs of the relationships. I like that the writers are sprinkling crumbs to us about pasts and their general existences because it's preparing us for the big reveals. It's also good to remember that our MLs are still struggling with their new reality of being involved in each other's lives the way they are hence why everything is being focused on them mostly atm.

I loved the episode, as usual, though I have to say it was a bit weak maybe (?) compared to the first three episodes. There was a lot going on and tons of switches being switched so it felt a little forced? Idk. It might be just me. However, I do agree to a certain extent she is trying hard to love him, though she is going about it the wrong way lol! But hey, it's due to her lack of experience so I can forgive it :P As for his words in the next episode preview, I doubt she'll use her "free" wish on that. Based on her determination for the time being, she'll want to do it on her own merits rather than wish for it.

I think it was needed to get his attention lol! But 100% agreed. A strong start to a very intense story with a time limit on life itself. I honestly can't see a typical KDrama ending with this one, and my fingers are crossed in hopes the ending will be just as strong as the beginning (middle included)! It seems that lot of dramas (correct me if I'm wrong) fall flat at the end which is just as crucial, if not more, than the beginning. But I'm hopeful, so we'll see.

Side note to further add on my comment of everyone dying not being possible, I wonder about that actually- if it may actually happen, if it's just something said to have called Doom, or whether there will be consequences for attempting it based on Doom's conversations with the goddess in the hospital.
