I'd say it was a happy ending even if the relationship ended because it means not having to invest in a relationship that wasn't going to work out. But I wish the drama touched more on them communicating their problems and giving a chance for each other to put effort. Just because it's realistic that relationships and dating don't work out, they didn't have to make it ring true that people are horrible at confrontation. It's true if you're not compatible and if there's too much settling then it makes people fall out of love but I really wanted the drama to touch on them ACTUALLY working out the knots. If Yumi didn't like how unresponsive Woong was when he was texting, why didn't she communicate that? It would be an easy fix that Woong could put more effort in his responses. Why didn't she let him know how him coming in and replacing her table was over stepping her boundaries? He wouldve thought he was just being a nice boyfriend spoiling her with nice things. How could he have known if she didn't tell him?
I really liked this drama more than I thought. I am always intrigued about innocent concepts turned dark like how the children games were used to murder people. It was very suspenseful during the games. Although I agree the attention to quality in plot faltered towards the end, the writing still maintained the sweet formula of showcasing the relationships between people whether it was about trust, betrayal, lies, the truth; it was amazing to see how many characters did their best to establish relationships while being trapped in a life or death situation. I kept being reminded of how grim and dark the powerful and rich have such influence on the weaker, poor, powerless. I definitely would love to see a season 2 to wrap up an arc of seeing the powerful sinister organization be held accountable. If the writer did not intend for a second season, I wish it had ended in a way where it could have been grim still but give a glimmer a hope and determination that the leading character may have had or is trying to build.
Trash drama. Hungar Games for beggars? Why Humans always concentrate on negative things in life. Why not positivity?…
Did we watch the same Hunger Games? The people that were casted into the HGs were also poor. Capitol people were the rich watching children die in a battle royale arena. At least in Squid Games it's adults who "consented" to play.
Was finding a movie to watch and found this because of the intriguing plotline. Got a little worried cause the rating was low but watched it anyway. It was super good!!!! I was surprised by the twist. It was very thought provoking as well. I really liked how that twist put everything into place like boom. Wow. O.O
This drama reminds me of a manga I was reading called Momochi House, involving a character tied to the house for various reasons, and the "house" having mysterious powers which also grows infinite amount of rooms. In each room there was something mystical about it like having a different ecosystem within. Though the manga has more of demons rather than the drama has human souls. I like the feel between these forms of media as gives death a less scary front.
I can only anticipate further for this drama, whether it has a messy start up or not. I can only wonder what's in store for Chansung, and when Manwol can begin to age and live her life once again. Never mind the script, I adore IU's acting in this drama thus far, as she radiates a more tough energy. I really liked all the the scenes that made her seem badass. n u n I hope it won't change as it is inevitable romance will come to play, and the character may become a bit more vulnerable.
I really liked the second season much better!!! I understand season one kind of has to lay a base for the story to exist cause there's so much elaborate information and detail as world creating is not as easy as basing a story on a already existing modern or historical world. I just felt the constant torture of the Wahans let the story to plateau a bit but it's finally picking up where their fates are being turned around!
I'm just so in awe of the people behind this drama who made such hauntingly beautiful music, choreographed the dance that we know as the Spirit Dance which truly helped Tanya at the end of season 2, the original languages that are being spoken by many different tribes and the religion that is at the forefront of this story. I know for sure Game of Thrones has been part of an inspiration to the writer if possible. Game of Thrones is truly a great show but met the fate of a terrible ending because their writers no longer cared, so Arthdal Chronicles may truly be a show that can appeal to GOT lovers who may want something of a kin to that to support.
I hope anyone coming by can truly give the show a chance because it is beautiful and awe-inspiring. I always wanted for Korean dramas to hit the genre of fantasy as only romcoms, historical, action/crime, and robots (it quite trendy as of lately loooool) ever touch upon existence. I am not talking of how randomly one character in a drama is a vampire, ghost or has super powers in secret. I really love being immersed into a different universe where everything is new. I want to be able to wish I lived in the world and experience it's wonders.
I'm sorry but the more I watch, the more shallow I find these characters are...
Er.... what did you expect from watching a drama based on a country that prioritizes looks in reality? Good = Good Looking, Evil = Ugly looking, is not a new concept in media or real life.
It's not the best but it's not that bad, to be honest. I must admit that Abyss have a lot of dum dum characters…
I'm sorry but if you got frustrated because a villain is toying with the charaacters, congratulatons, the villain did his job and also managed to get a very guillable victim at the same time!
I let the "bad" reviews of Game of Thrones, Attack on Titan and Venom (MCU movie) sway me and planned to never watch them. But when I picked them up because I needed things to watch, I became addicted. They were amazing and appealed to me in their own respective ways and I regret harboring such thoughts.
I almost let the swaying get me this time as I was already interested in the case and plot. I hope that anyone that comes by here who is considering in watching this show can give it a chance. It's not your typical romcom just because romance and comedy are tagged, and it should appeal to anyone who adores the action, crime and mystery with hints of romance here and there. There are many comedic scenes between leading man and lady, and a good level of suspense. There may be concepts you don't understand but the more you watch, your questions will receive answers. I'm still questioning a lot on the concept rather than the plot, but I'm in for the ride that this drama has to offer.
Late on the hype since I only enjoyed Goblin casually and not avidly, but I very much loved the first episode. Pacing's good and there's plenty of good humor that had me laughing and cringing (in a good way, because secondhand embarrassment jkdljadlk). I think casting Yoo Inna is very much wise since she's not too much criticized for her acting which can allow her to be a little more goofy with her acting in this drama.
My only issue is that I hope they can change the way they handle post-production stuff, the editing. There were too many camera angles being shown when Yunseo was ranting to her manager in the car. I don't see what emphasis is made to show 5 angles of them conversing. The transitions from when Yunseo successfully made it to work on time which suddenly cut to Jungrok somewhere else is a weird way to introduce the second female lead because her presence was redudant on episode 1 when her major appearances happen in episode 2. And that scene was rather short before going back to Yunseo interacting one-on-one with Ms.Yang. THEN later, there were three angles used to focus on the detail of Yunseo fixing and dusting her shoulders off for doing hard work.
It doesn't effect my overall impression on the drama but I rather not be too dizzy when trying to watch something.
The ending was just empty, it's not happy nor sad. It's cut short, like someone lost the last page of the script. What…
That's my main problem with the plot too. It's one thing to leave to a viewer's interpretation but to leave everything unanswered for how the game works just leaves out important information. Like you can't just have some unique concept of a drama and never explain it! It was like the writer heard of a game death concept from SAO and never watched it, then proceeded to write a show about just that concept. A con for a game stuck in development is that there is no way for Jinwoo to learn about the mechanics of the game other than that you die = you become npc. In a way, we were Jinwoo too learning about this specific game but left with the same amount of information Jinwoo knew. I wish while Seju was stuck in the game they both can fight and learn more about the game together. At the start of this drama the support for this concept was also very lackluster, I almost felt childish when watching this drama. I think I've come to dislike the mystery behind the deaths because its a merge of technology and literal magic, the unexplainable kind, rather than oh there was an actual murderer killing test players or some other sci-fi way.
There are plenty things that make the drama disappointing but it is not the missing romantic happy ending and crying Heeju. Main female and male leads do NOT have to be happy together in order for a story to be considered a happy ending. Why don't you all just look at it as a happy ending for the greater population that a horrendous game that Seju created is not released to the public which could potentially end many lives like Sword Art Online did? For a constant crying Heeju, it's not poor writing. Believe or not, there are people who cry a lot. In a constant peril to worry for a man she loves and a brother she cherishes, she of course would cry. You're free to rewrite the drama without a crying Heeju. Just buy the rights from Netflix.

Disney: Can we copystrike this drama?
