In light of the announcement that legal actions are going to be taken against those who continue to spread defamatory…
And as it so happens. From Threads a few hours ago...
"The Kim Soohyun Fan Union has successfully secured a conviction against a bully (user 'vamv****') for online defamation. The prosecution issued a 'fine order' (구약식) against them. This means that their offensive comments were legally recognized as a punishable crime.
The Fan Union confirms that this is only the beginning more complaints are being prepared, and they will not seek any settlements or leniency for any of the accused."

Finally finished. That last breakup was a bridge too far. I feel like it ground me down to not caring whether they got together in the end. Beautiful though he is I'd have left him episodes ago. Some things just aren't worth that much of a struggle. Thank god it's over.
Most unbelievable quote of the whole saga: Ju Han to Hyun Woo looking at his mother asleep in the car "Wow, she's even got prettier."
Just beating Hyun Woo's: "Mo Ne seems tired of me too." as he holds up the ring that Mo Nae, so desperately, desperately tired of his breaking up shenanigans reluctantly gave him back.
And finally he expresses his emotions by proxy with the runaway bridegroom.
Just horrible writing. You did your best Dong Wook and Da Hae, and all the supporting cast! I enjoyed a lot of it. But those last episodes were just awful.
And Oh my god they brought back Mother's brain so she could be her earlier unpleasant self.
(I enjoyed the kisses x)

This is so awful. Evidently the way they wipe a mother's sins in Korean drama is to turn them childlike (same in Bubblegum). This is just more of a burden for Hyun Woo. Has he not suffered enough?

Ah right, she's got brain issues now. So I'm going to have to put up with watching this awful woman get fawned over for the rest of the series, while sentimental music plays in the background, and Hyun Woo suffers again. It really is like the Bubblegum ending.

Title Hotel King Spoiler
This site is wonderful for my recent Lee Dong Wook journey! So, Hotel King, then. Poor traumatised boy, bless him. Mostly the series was compelling. I like Lee Da Hae a lot too, I think her bright cheerful attitude in this was a good balance for LDW's tortured soul. It was all very compelling to watch...up to the episode 27 ending, and then the redemption of the monster mother.

I'm someone who's not inclined towards forgiveness in real life I'm afraid. And this, what a horror of a person she was. I'm only starting episode 29 now, and gritting my teeth. I know it's only drama but the psychological truth of that relationship is that a vulnerable, physically and emotionally abused young man has a co-dependent reaction to realising one of his abusers (and she did try to kill him, let's not forget) has been his mother all along. Ju Han, too has that relationship with her, devoted to her though she never loved him enough. I don't care what she went through in the past, there's no justification for becoming the demon she was.

I don't suppose anyone will see this so long after it was shown, and I'll have to spoiler tag it. But I feel better getting that off my chest. There seems to be an out of proportion reverence for parents in Korean culture, if evil ones are supposed to be forgiven no matter how low they stoop. I felt a little the same about the mother in Bubblegum, who once she's ill at the end everyone rallies round to make her every moment happy, or something. But she was mean too, though not on the scale of Baek.
Anyway it was worth watching for my man Dong Wook, oh and the supporting cast were great too! Especially the personal assistant, she was lovely, and a nice subtle characterisation. In I go now to (possibly suffer) through the last few episodes...
