I'm adding this for the same reasons I added the first season of "Tientsin Mystic": same author as "Mountain God", same era, similar genre and topics.
The book this is based on was written by the same author who wrote "Tientsin Mystic". Both are set in the Republican Era and have a lot of similar themes: they are dramas with supernatural and horror elements who explore topics such as friendship, identity, societal expectations, revenge, and local myths and legends, as well as the space between dreams and reality.
It's the previous entry in this same franchise (as in: the one that was last released before this one), covering another part of Wu Xie's life, and it also sees Xu Zhenxuan for the first time in the role of Wu Xie.
