The main series of MSP was really good. However, their Our Skyy episodes was not. Everything felt rushed. Hoping that Fourth and Gemini get better projects in the future since making Tinn/Gemini as a music club president and Gun/Fourth as a school club president felt like a miscast.
Also, condensing a 12-episode plot into a 2-episode arc was not enough to replicate the chemistry of TinnGun as new/switched characters.
Lastly, what were they thinking giving a glimpse of the uni life of the TinnGun in the alternate universe while the TinnGun of the original universe (which we all love) got nothing. What we should've gotten is a follow-up of the original characters instead of the alternate universe characters.
I love mystery series/movies and this one did not disappoint! A solid 10/10 for me and probably the best GMMTV series that I have watched.
I love how this show started on a high note and managed to sustain (or even increased) the momentum until the finale. Lots of twists plus red herrings that may have been intentionally put so that viewers can theorize.
May is my bias on this. But really, really strong acting by all of the cast.
Btw, if you liked this series and you want to watch something similar that will question your trust with people, go watch WeTV’s The Debut. One of my favorite Thai shows as well.
1. I am crying with what happened to Jarunee. My heart really breaks for her dad and Bomb.
2. I am crying for Paul and Phiphu. We want for them to happen, but in the end, it wouldn't make sense to happen.
3. I am crying because all of the characters and cast were soooo good! This was such a perfectly cast ensemble cast!
4. I am crying because I did not get the ending I as a viewer wanted. However, I am extremely satisfied with how they wrapped up the story. I may not get what I wanted for the ending but the characters were able to do what they wanted. Jarunee wanted to let go of her regrets and do what she was not able to do before she reaches the end of her terminal sickness. She did it. Songpol wanted to let go of Mathee. He did it and he was able to feel and experience love along the way. Jaya wanted to sing again on stage. She did it and was able to change for the better. Amonthep wanted to continue boxing for finance and legacy. He did it. San wanted to meet Prim. He did it.
5. I am crying because this series ended and it does not need a season 2. I am not ready to let go of these characters. As a viewer, I hope GMMTV can consider a post-series special with 5 episodes each dedicated to the 5 characters. Jarunee's could be the last episode where the gang can reconnect and visit Bomb and Jarunee's father.
I have watched a lot of GMMTV series for the past couple of years. GMMTV outdid themselves with this one. I am confident to say that this has been my favorite and for me, the best series GMMTV has made among those that I've watched. A 10/10 rating I am not ashamed of giving. I hope there will be more projects with some of the cast together in the future (ex. Khaotung-Pawin is a MUST!, View-Arm, Khaotung-Piploy, etc.). This is such an underrated masterpiece.
WTH just happened? I am crying. Please let Songpol be young again so that he won't feel that he is cursed! He doesn't deserve it. I want Jaya to stay young as well but basing from the preview, she is willing to change and make a comeback despite her age. For Jarunee? I am sad and did not expect that to happen.
This was such a great penultimate episode! Can't wait for the finale but at the same time, I don't want to let go.
Ok I am in the minority here but I do not know what to feel about the finale episode. I do appreciate the "Time heals all wounds" message implied and that there's no sudden conflict on the last episode. But I found the last episode a bit of a lackluster, stagnant, and anti-climactic.
Having said that, Bad Buddy is still overall a strong series and one of the strongest BLs GMMTV has produced. Episode 1 to 10 were really, really excellent for me. Episode 11 was well-acted as it pulled out a strong reaction from me but it did not leave me that hooked and looking forward to the next episode unlike the previous ones. And I do not know how I'll take Episode 12. OhmNanon's chemistry is off the charts!
Songpol's storyline is still my favorite but Jarunee's story really grew on me the past two episodes. Glad to see Jaya finally getting the story progression she deserves. Thep's and San's stories are developing really well as well.
I love this series. Idk but maybe the only "criticism" I have is that starting episode 6, I think San's story has progression every episode while one of the other 4 has no progression in at least one episode (ex. no Songpol in episode 13, Jaya, Jarunee, and Thep are missing in a few episodes too). I'm okay with one character missing per episode mid-series but San could have been included in the rotation of which character will be missing.
Other than that, I still rate this series 10/10 so far. This is my cup of tea. I hope the ending does not disappoint.
Speaking of the ending, I feel like the dream scene already hints that the characters will be given a choice. I'm unsure though if they can make their decisions individually (ie. some can stay young, some can go back to their old selves) or as a group (since they became young as a group as well). I would prefer the former but if it is the latter, I hope it would be written well as there will definitely be heartbreaks.
I'm already getting major separation anxiety with this series coming to an end next week. I'm like wanting to know what happens next but at the same time I don't want the series to end.
Episode 11 was beautifully shot. But I do not know how to take in the break up and the preview for the finale.
Their parents are annoying for being happy that their children broke up just because they do not like each other.
I know that it's a reality that some couples break up in order to not disappoint their parents. But wouldn't be a good lesson to the audience to fight for their love as long as they're sure that they love each other? Ultimately, PatPran do not have issues with each other. They just broke up just because of their parent's feud. They'll still be fighting for their love eventually so why not fight for it now?
Based on the preview, I do not take the time leap on the final episode where they show the breakup positively. I would only take the time leap positively if they'll set up a special supplementary season (like Still 2gether).
I really thought that Bad Buddy would hands down be the best GMMTV BL ever for me. It is still a great contender but with episode 11 and the way they're previewing episode 12, this ending might not be for me.
I may be eating my words should the finale be sooo good but these are my thoughts for now.
This series just keeps getting better and better. We're 4 episodes away from the finale and I'm already getting major separation anxiety from this series and cast. I love all 5 characters! All did really well and their plots are great.
If the series does give the characters the dilemma by the end where they're given the choice between staying 15 or going back to 55, I feel like San and Thep most definitely will choose to go back to 55 (San to be with Prim, Thep since he has a wife and kid). I do hope Paul, Jinny, and Jaya choose to stay young (Paul to live his life freely with Phiphu, Jinny to start enjoying her life, and Jaya to redeem herself and not take things for granted anymore).
PS: I hope GMMTV takes a chance on Khaotung-Pawin. They really have amazing chemistry! No offense to First (who's a great actor btw) but should there be a re-cast for The Eclipse, hope they can make it Khaotung-Pawin. Or maybe make a surprise short series (similar to The Comments which was not part of the GMMTV 2021 line up) with them as a couple. Khaotung-Jaya can also work for a straight couple. Well, Khaotung is soooo shippable with anyone.
This was actually pretty cute! I didn't mind the different plot points because it reminded me of those dumb slice-of-life…
Totally agree! The silly, slice-of-life show style also reminded me a bit of I'm Tee Me Too where there's a sub-plot running through the entire series but every episode, there's a main story that gets resolved during the episode.
This is such a great series! Probably a bit biased but my favorite arc so far is Songpol/Paul's storyline. Also, I did not expect Khaotung and Pawin (Phiphu) to have such a great chemistry! I really see a chemistry between Khaotung and Piploy (Jaya) as well.
All 5 storylines are pretty good (albeit Nanon's storyline being the most straightforward). I like the interactions between the characters. The most obvious ones are between Paul-Jaya and San-Thep. Hope we can see more interactions with Jarunee soon since she only has a strong link with Noinae currently.
What was that special? If they decided on making a special that's not about Shi Lei - Yu Zhen, they could've made a special on the other couple's wedding. Too much focus on the ex all throughout the series. Aaron's acting was topnotch this episode though.
I can't even say that the ending was anti-climactic since I don't think this series even reached a climax. They had a great cast (Hank and Aaron were really good) but the plot's not really that good. I love Taiwanese BLs but this one's at the bottom. I love the OST and the cinematography though.
I put watching this series on hold for quite a while due to the negative comments. But I actually find it decent. Might be a bit vanilla but there's nothing really wrong with that and it's actually well-made. I think it's on the same level as 2gether since they're both simple BL series. There's chemistry between Pai and Itt and I love the friendship between Pure and Folk.
Final episode was a little bit anticlimactic but still sweet and enjoyable. I love the second half but I felt like the finale was rushed (same case as Tonhon Chonlatee, both might have been rushed due to Covid). Like TonChon, I feel like the ending could have been spread out between 2 episodes in order to get a bit more detail on what happened (like what Bam did was odd and unnecessary to put in a finale episode). I love that scene of the 4 in Pi's room! That was really funny.
My final thoughts on the series:
What I liked:
- All actors were so good! Neo is a scene-stealer and Pond has a strong appeal. Kapook and Papang were a bit underutilized though. - On point chemistry of MorkPi and MeenDuean. - For the most part, humor was on point. At the top of my head, I can only think of the Indian costume seen to be unnecessary (plus the fans but will get to that later - Possibly one of the best closing OSTs in any BL. Mix' song was soooo good!
What I didn't like:
- I think the biggest problem of this series is its pacing. 1 step forward, 3 steps back. The middle was quite messy and some scenes could have worked better at a different placement in the series (Bam reveal and MorkPi getting together would have worked better if included in an earlier episode). - Too much screentime for the shippers. I wouldn't mind if their purpose was really necessary but their screentime here's just too much. Like why do they need to be included in the balloon scene DURING MorkPi's kiss? - I did find the series to be okay but I can't pinpoint what's "unique" here compared to other Thai BL series. As examples: I find 2gether's reliance on music to work in their favor, Dark Blue Kiss was really intense and the conflict is really a conflict, 1000 Stars' setting sets it apart, and Lovely Writer at least tried to explore the behind-the-scenes of the BL industry. FUTS was a bit plain but there's really nothing wrong with that.
Overall, this was enjoyable to watch. A bit frustrating since the series really started out strong but faded as the series went on. I didn't get too attached with the characters or the series since I'm missing an "impact" but I do find myself laughing with most of the comedic scenes. I'm not sure of its rewatchability for me but the cast's acting and the characters' chemistry are really the strongest points of this series!
Also, condensing a 12-episode plot into a 2-episode arc was not enough to replicate the chemistry of TinnGun as new/switched characters.
