Hiiii do you have recommendations of other cdramas similar to this? I dun wan Taiwanese dramas though... It is…
Hi! I wish there was a good one similar to this! The closest I can think of are these Chinese dramas: - To Be With You (2019) - three rich families are in the mix, a LOT of plot twists/secrets - Nice to Meet You (2019)
I don't quite recommend these but they do fit what you're looking for: - Royal Sister Returns (2017) - this is older and I recall hating the last half/the ending, but it's rich families and trying to arrange a marriage for business - Look Up There's Starlight (2020) - this is more revenge-focused, a lot of secrets
Please if someone can tell me what the aunt told them in epi 32 please spoiler tag and reply please lol thank…
Tried my best to translate it:
The aunt said that Gao Yang's father's company had been in decline for a long time. Just when she finally found an investor to save the company, the VP (that guy she's now working with) found two contracts from 18 years ago. After seeing these two contracts, she could no longer continue working for the company.
The first showed that Gao Yang's father was the contractor that built the mall where the accident that caused Yan Li's mother's death occurred, and building materials were purchased for far below market value. The second showed that after the building collapse, Gao Yang's father and the building materials company wrote a new contract with higher prices. The accountant tried to cover it up but left behind evidence.
The aunt concluded that the fire must've been caused by the low-quality materials that Gao Yang's father purchased, and she shows them photos of the contracts as evidence.
These are things in this drama that drove me crazy, and this is just what I specifically remember:
1. Wei Qing hires people to threaten HER MOTHER?? In what universe is this a logical, acceptable idea? Why does his assistant go along with it? This brings back traumatic memories for Zhou Shi and is not an easily forgivable action. Then he engineers that incident to make her think she broke the expensive artwork??? It's all so deeply manipulative.
2. Wei Qing hires his ex-girlfriend to be his secretary alongside Zhou Shi in order to motivate Zhou Shi? Ok, the motivational part I can understand but did it have to be his ex-girlfriend? Wouldn't it be better if he selected someone who was in on his plan and could be more of a mentor figure? Didn't he feel like that would give his ex the wrong idea, like she might still have a chance?
3. When Zhou Shi moved in with Wei Qing to treat his disease and they slept in the same bed, she seemed uncomfortable. It felt like they crossed a boundary without discussing it. I'm glad her friends said something and she acknowledged that she had feelings for him without being in denial. But then he randomly encounters the skin specialist girl who he is also not allergic to??? What a strange scene. I almost thought they were going for a "Zhou Shi witnesses them and misunderstands" moment.
4. When Wei Qing finally realizes he likes Zhou Shi, the plan he comes up with to tell her is to ASK HIS DOCTOR TO LIE TO HER about gifting them that vacation???? Wei Qing, have you learned nothing??
5. Zhang Shuai happens to be Wei Qing's ex's cousin and they team up??? First of all, I initially thought Zhang Shuai was interested in Zhou Shi but it seemed like I was wrong and they barely had any interactions. He didn't even seem that into helping tutor her. Then all of a sudden, he's desperately trying to get her away from Wei Qing? Felt so out of character.
6. In the last episode, Wei Qing doesn't contact Zhou Shi for months, tells his assistant to lie to her, and then eventually has his assistant give her a plane ticket. When she arrives, he doesn't even contact her?! At this point, this is ridiculous. He knows he likes her, so why does he treat her like this? Is it a game? I wanted her to just move on with her life and her own plans. Also, that pool scene was supposed to be things coming full circle but why was she even at the pool? Why doesn't she pay attention to where she's walking? Can't she pull herself out of the pool? I was rolling my eyes the entire scene.
7. Lastly, I really thought there would be more to Xiao Fei's sister's storyline. I thought there would be some kind of emotional reunion and a rebuilding of their relationship, but the connection was just put out there and then ***nothing*** until the end when they made her seem totally heartless instead?
